Re: Mykolenko
I know this seems to be what people think but I'm not sure why? He's not in a position to demand that and there's no way Moyes is putting up with his output beyond this season.Bob Sacamano wrote: ↑Sun Jan 04, 2026 10:54 pm If he gets a new contract he’s our LB for the foreseeable
I think he'll sign a new deal because he's not getting a better club than us, and we'll re-sign him as it makes more sense to invest heavily in one new LB than split that money over two.
Re: Mykolenko
Will be like the Keane situation all over again.
People will say he’ll hardly play, he’s a great backup to have, then he’ll play every game because we won’t sign a good left back.

Re: Mykolenko
100%
It doesn’t have to be Cafu and Maldini, just two competent wingbacks would absolutely transform this side in terms of balance, attack and defensive stability.
Re: Mykolenko
Why wouldn't we sign a good left back? Moyes built his team here last time on great full backs so he idea he'll happily plod along with Myko doesn't make a lot of sense imo.
We also have to sign another LB anyway as we have no workable backup, so it would be very weird to buy a backup to Myko instead of someone to start.
Re: Mykolenko
Well he’s plodded with Jake at right back so why wouldn’t he do the same with mykolenkoAjaxAndy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 05, 2026 10:11 am Why wouldn't we sign a good left back? He seems happy plodding with the full backs unfortunately.
Re: Mykolenko
Why can’t you?
I’m basing my opinion on stuff that has happened, yours is in blind faith with no basis.
They didn’t get a right back because they thought we were covered so I don’t see them giving mykolenko a new deal and making him a backup.
Re: Mykolenko
But we couldn't do everything in one window and Moyes had said all along we needed more attacking players, so was always going to be 'go with what we've got' at the back, especially as JOB was looking half decent there at the time.
As with the young players who need to develop we can't judge anything based on 6 months... If we don't address it in the summer than fair enough, but I'd be shocked if we don't buy 2 new full backs.

Re: Mykolenko
We’re not paying a fullback £3mill a year to sit on the bench and then buying a first choice LB on more money.
