I think home games will show up his weaknesses and away games he'll thrive. Much happier when we aren't trying to play much footy and it's more of a defensive approach like at Forest. When we're trying to get on the ball and apply pressure in a more sustained way his skill set looks much weaker.

"PSR" Tim had a mountain to climb with Everton fans when he joined, he was still just about 20 and had played 12 Premier League gamss for Villa, and a loan spell before he signed.

Dibling is going to be 20 next month and has a full season in the PL with Southampton and has been untouchable. Fans seem happy to play the long game accept his shortcomings and will see how he develops
They'll blame others around him (patterson, Tarks, Moyes) for any shortcomings. Dont get me wrong I don't like to see crowds get on the back of youngsters, my point is should Tim not be afforded the same?.He seemed to be judged as a seasoned pro, with people writing him off in no time. He has had some very good and some very ordinary games for us this year, but there is plenty of potential there. The 2 players are not a world apart in their timeline of development.

Of course they need to be treated as a youngsters. Age isn't everything of course (Wayne was streets ahead at 17) but we need more patience in general. Some players won't make it, fair enough. Our assessments don't mean anything anyway, we've only got to read any thread back after a month or two to see that.

Booing and pressure where it's not warranted is simply unhelpful no matter the issue.

Players can read the room. They know when they've played poorly and know more about what's required than the vast majority of supporters who have never laced boots. They'd have no doubt under their current manager anyway.

It's so disappointing.

Again, you have to ride the waves. He’s had numerous steady games with the odd stinker thrown in. Eventually, if those stinkers persist, then you have to accept that that’s who he is as a player. We’re not there yet.

Our distance from relegation teams is a gift to pump minutes into projects like precisely like him. Way more important that we develop all of the raw talent we’ve acquired then push our chips in on some misguided run at a European place. I would love to be in Europe next season but it’s not worth giving young players a short leash to get there. Several of the big clubs are rudderless due to poor ownership, I don’t think this is a once in a decade chance for us to qualify.

This next generation has every chance at being a perennial Europa team and maybe even a CL team if enough big money clubs falter again. Since we aren’t making a serious run at the CL this season, I don’t mind sitting through the odd poor performance from Barry, Tim, Dibling, or whoever because I know they’ll be better for the consistent games a year from now.

Yeah, with Iroegbunam, JOB, Dibbling, Anzou, Rohl, Barry and Armstrong, we have a core group of player who need minutes in their core positions to develop in this league (or others) for next season and the season after.

We ain’t gonna do it by pumping millions in and our expected results based on performances has us a lot lower than Europe anyway.
