Does anyone else get the feeling that they have become a bit detached from Everton since the new owners took over and we moved stadium?
Having a corporate behemoth as your owner is comforting but also gives a sense of detachment as the Americans don't seem particularly emotionally invested themselves and it feels like we are merely customers. We are getting nickel and dimed for everything, we had the stones, more stones then the lines, we'll be getting names on the side of the slurry tank next door for the next money extraction technique.
There is very little coms from Everton about anything really, any problems that arise at the stadium or anything else never get any sort of response.
The last of the Moshiri madness felt like we the fans had taken control of things because well we needed to, it felt like the only way to stop us disappearing into obscurity, it actually felt like we meant something.
I don't know, just feels like we have lost something.

Re: Our Club
I think when we hit a poor run of form we can get very reactionary as a fanbase and question a lot of things.
Over the last ten years we’ve nearly been relegated three times, we’ve had Allardyce, Benitez, and Sean Dyche managing us, we’ve had a points deduction, and was owned by a criminal oligarch who ran us into the ground because his mate invaded another country.
All of that was a lot worse than anything today.
Wasn’t too long ago when we won our first game at the new ground with Grealish running the show people were saying we have our club back and it’s a new era.

Feels quite stable at the moment. Sometimes no news is good news.
We are just at the start of a long journey back up towards where we need to be.
We are settling into a new stadium, with new owners, after a period of massive uncertainty and chaos. But we have gathered enough points already to feel safe and watch the remainder of the season without feeling stressed and nervous about every game. I am enjoying the silence.

Re: Our Club
I think you will get the same with any professional club tbh. Many supporters feel a disconnect with clubs, certainly in the top flight of big leagues at any rate, where clubs have become heavily commercialised and business orientated. I don’t think Everton will be alone in this.

Re: Our Club
No im the opposite. We've never been consistently closer to being relegated from the top tier, in my lifetime, than the last decade. Even shitter than we were in the 90s.
We now have safety guaranteed, looking up the league, we're not in debt and in a world class stadium. Im all in.

Sadly this generation of fans in the main have only experienced bad times….i can remember the good times we’ve had over the years fa cup wins league title… and also the bad times of the mid 70’s….then the good times of early to mid eighties…and now the lean times of no trophies since 1995 !! Which brings me 360 degrees to the current fan base….
What kept me going was the hope of the good times returning…and I have more hope now than I’ve had since we finished 4th under moyes….

Re: Our Club
No doubt things are looking more positive. The new stadium and finances looking better are slowly but surely seeing us progress. I think we see some sporadic cases where some clubs have brought instant success or improvement but they are the exception rather than the norm. As long as we are seeing progression slowly but surely and heading in the right direction, it’s giving us hope for the future and optimism4evablu wrote:Sadly this generation of fans in the main have only experienced bad times….i can remember the good times we’ve had over the years fa cup wins league title… and also the bad times of the mid 70’s….then the good times of early to mid eighties…and now the lean times of no trophies since 1995 !!
