Be absolutely gutted if we sold tim. Im a terrible judge but I think he could become a top player off some of this seasons evidence

Can't believe there's people who think we should take the 7m.
Thats probably the compensation for a couple of highly rated 15 year olds

I didn't say we would get full backs for 7m, but you can just pluck more numbers from thin air and out them in people's mouths if you like.

You said we should sell him and use the money to buy some fullbacks. The reported offer is between 8 and 10m euros apparently. Not sure which part ive made up

It’s not a case of selling tim to give Armstrong more minutes.

We’ll have to replace him as at the minute he’s the best ball winner and ball carrier in the squad.

He’s got huge potential and any fee we get for him, if we do sell, needs to reflect that.

Come to the table with £30m upfront then we’ll start talking.
It is a case of moving around the pieces to improve a mid table squad of mostly mid table players.
You would imagine if everyone is fit, Garner and Gueye are first choice for the deeper midfield positions.
KDH and Armstrong can be the 2 choices ahead of them.
If Garner and Gueye are injured, Armstrong can drop into an 8, which looks as if it will be his position in future seasons.

I don't see Tim being worth an increased and longer contract, so sell him and reinvest to improve the squad where we need it.

When Gueye is done, we should be looking to get a higher quality midfielder in than (i think) Tim will ever become.

That's your lack of comprehension then.

To put it simply for you:
Let's say we wanted to buy a full back for 20m and the selling club wanted it all up front, but we only had 10m available.
We could put the 10m sale of a player towards it too. That would make 20m.

Of course, we could buy a 20m player mow with just a 10m first payment.

But feel free to stay stuck in a mental rut.

When we signed Gana from Villa he was a bit underwhelming, blew hot and cold there but the thing we apparently identified was that he had certain stats that were only bettered by I think it was Kante.

Tim I think is a similar situation, sell and he could go on to be a great success somewhere else.

Realistically if he develops over the next year or two we should be looking at a midfield base of Tim and Armstrong, not one or the other.

So we should sell him and buy some of a fullback not some fullbacks

Giving him a contract on slightly improved wages is much less of a risk than selling him for less than 10m by quite a lot. We can still sell him for around that in a years time. Plenty of teams will take a chance on a 23 year old with his level of promise for that fee. If we can’t sign a player and need the money to do so then I see the reasoning but it’s still bad business.

He'll need to improve his ability to make the right decisions with the ball and execute it more regularly if he's going to be valued at 30m.

Being able to strike a ball without getting it caught beneath him would help too. He's the definition of nose bleed territory at the moment when he bears down on the opposition box, in a more concerning fashion than even Gana.

He has his good points too.

Has he had a knock then, or flu (as was rumoured), a possible move turning his head, or something else?

Hopefully his head wasn't turned from a low ball offer from Lazio.

I don't think we know exactly, but like KDH and Alcaraz recently, it seems Moyes prefers to keep his cards close to his chest with these things.
