Says on sky we turned down 15 million from lazio and there was interest from another team but it came nowhere near our valuation

He’s far more valuable to us as a developing squad player than anything below £25-30M as he would have to be replaced.

We would have easily taken £15m a few months ago with what he was showing.

He's not needed really. Obviously Gana will be retiring at some point but Garner and Armstrong look set to be here for the foreseeable and probably in the XI. KDH and Rohl about. Even Alcaraz.

I don't think £25m would be bad business for a squad player who probably won't be anything great anyway.

Safe to say we got the better of that Tim/Dobbin PSR deal

Might be sensible to look at a 22 year old with some stand out attributes and think 'maybe we could continue to develop him and turn him in to a real quality player'.

He can also do something mad and cost you a goal or the game.

I think this is key. You want him nowhere near your own goal to eliminate the brain farts but he doesn't offer you anything in the final third either. So he's a potential ball hunting machine in the middle third, which needs stability behind him and creativity ahead of him.

More often than not he doesn’t though.

He’s one of the best ball carriers and duel winners in the world at his age group. Happy for him to make a mistake every now and then.

Also very regularly turns in tight situations on the edge of his own box and progresses it up field with his dribbling.

Definitely offers plenty in our own defensive third but needs to improve what he does with it at the other end for sure.

I'm with @TheRam in that you don't ignore a 22 year old with elite attributes and throw them on the scrap head just because there's other areas that need development.

He only needs to develop the rest to above average over the next 2 years and you have a 24 year old worth £80m (potentially).

Doucoure did that for years and everyone still loved him.

He's 22 so still plenty time to coach more discipline into him. His potential far out weights any of his faults.

Needs more regular game time to develop intelligence. He'll learn when players are making runs off him given enough minutes to experience it again and again. He'll also develop better distribution if he's in that situation more often.

I worry he won't get enough game time though to iron out the mistakes and when he gets the odd opportunity he'll fall down in these areas, which will give more ammunition to pile on him again.
