He has all of the raw material to become a top winger but there is something else going on mentally that he needs to overcome. Not sure if it’s a lack of confidence or nervousness, or even overthinking everything, but he needs to be played into form and has to get minutes. However the desire and effort needs to be there and at the moment it is lacking.

Everything else is coachable and there are some very simple things he can do to make himself a more effective asset to the team. Get a yard of space and put a ball in the box. Quicker passing and more one twos. More sprinting and closing down. More yards covered. All of these things help the team, which is the first aim. Play yourself and the team into form and don’t rely on others to bail you out.

The pre-requisites of being a winger are all the same no matter who you play for. It’s a tough position where you get found out easily for not doing the absolute basics. A few examples; Track back and help your full back. Press the opposition full back and stop the ball from going down the byline and force it inside. Pass the ball at a basic level. Take on your opponent when one on one. If you aren’t doing these things well, then it’s very difficult for the manager to like you, even if you are as talented as Dibling.

Keeps throwing the gauntlet down to Dibling, I'd much rather this than just play someone who isn't working hard enough or implementing what the manager is asking.

Up to Dibling whether he makes it here or not. Hopefully the penny drops and we start to see the player we hoped we'd signed.

The lad’s got two choices. One will see him succeed everywhere and one will see him fail. I’m all about creating the right environment to set people up to succeed, but ultimately it is up to him.

I think Moyes these days feels a bit in old man mode and just happy to say what he thinks without any filter.

I get Moyes' trying to push him to put the work in. My only issue with it is it doesn't really feel like the rules are always applied equally. We've seen plenty of performances of late that have left a lot to be desired, but some seem to get much more leeway to be bad or make mistakes. The common factor with those that keep getting those chances probably is a baseline work rate...and you can't argue too much that you do need that in the PL.

Still have hope for him though. We've seen a few slow burners come through under Moyes. As much as Dibling needs to train hard etc I do think Moyes also needs to give some more chances to play too. He's a young player and he does need minutes even if he doesn't have it all figured out yet.

Dibbling has pretty much let every chance just pass him by. Im not sure his lack of performance can be compared to anyone else's. He called barry and beto out too and they've both contributed much more. Dibbling has been incredibly disappointing

Barry often struggled in some of his early games, but Moyes still gave him playing time. About 4x as much (351 vs 1371 minutes in PL) and was allowed to play through some wobbly form.

I don't think Dibling has been afforded a similar level of leeway is all. I agree he's not done enough but he's also 19 and adapting to a new location which seemingly he struggled with before...I just think he needs a bit more carrot to go along with the stick.

It is also fair to say he's not done enough, although maybe was a bit unlucky with his touch to Gueye against Leeds to not get a little assist to get up and running. Feels like he is lacking confidence a bit like Barry before his first goal, and I don't know if you address that purely by calling him out.
