I don't feel like that Waltzer.Raptor wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2026 11:57 am I don’t think many would disagree with that, but what exactly is keeping him out of the starting XI? If McNeil is even marginally better defensively — even by 1% — that’s enough for Moyes to pick him, even if George offers far more in attack.
Honestly, it feels like a bit of a power play from Moyes. He’s trying to assert control, and it’s pretty obvious he didn’t want Dibbling or George. He doesn’t look interested in putting time into developing young players when he can fall back on safe, Premier League-proven options.
I think people often read far too much into Moyes' selections, in terms of agendas and things like that. He hasn't got the time or space to have agendas. Youth development is a nice bonus, if and when you can afford it, but right now we're scrapping for every point to build the future of the club and possibly get Europe.
He's trying to pick the best team he thinks is capable of getting results in an incredibly physical Premier League, where the points totals are also incredibly tight. One win and you are near the Champs League, one defeat and you're lower mid table. Every team down to Wolves is capable of turning you over on a given day if you're not on it. You can't really afford passengers in the team.
He's shown he'll play Armstrong in the team, so it's not an age thing or that he's not interested in youth development. He just can't afford the luxury of playing a Dibling in the team for 5/6 games, and letting him find his feet. You have to be ready to go right now, or we'll lose games and points and the fanbase will be all over him and want him replaced (as we've seen this season, crazily, when we've had a couple of bad results in a row).
If we were sat in 12th with no real option to go up or down in the league, you'd see more of Dibling or George or even occasionally Aznou but we don't have that luxury. The Prem is incredibly unforgiving. They have to get better with and without the ball if they want to start in the team.
It's not just Moyes. Look at Arteta. Lewis-Skelly was a budding star last season. Can't get a look-in this season, because they're fighting for every point and they can't afford project players. Same with Pep. Foden's just been floating through games this season, so he doesn't get a look in at the moment.
Youth development will be more of an opportunity next season, if we can get in the Europa League or Conference League. But right now, we're scrapping for every single point to claw our way to a brighter future. And Moyes can't afford to have agendas or make powerplays in that scenario.

Re: Tyrique George
Is it really a power play to not play players you didnt want. Its quite likely hes not going to want to play players he didnt want to sign because he didnt want them to play for us
Re: Tyrique George
If he doesn’t play players that he didn’t want then maybe they’ll stop pissing money away by buying players that he doesn’t want, seems the sensible thing to me.
Re: Tyrique George
I think its just so we can take a look at him in person before deciding to purchase or not. Think its really that simple.

Not seen article, but maybe Chelsea don’t want to do business with us now we’ve kicked up a fuss about their punishment.
