By gifting one of them one for this season.

The drop off has been rather immediate hasn't it.

Didn't really know where else to put this but I was just listening to the Guardian football weekly podcast and enjoyed the description of Chelsea "financially drinking their own urine to survive".

One of my favourite footballing podcasts that I can usually still listen to even if we've lost as the discussions are usually pretty funny.

Why would BBC reporter Shamoon Hafez write this puff piece?

"Last season was a difficult one for the team in which they failed to win a major trophy across all competitions and Guardiola would have needed extra moments during preparations to conclude his remarks and relay messages - for this reason, the team have not been sent out on time as required by the Premier League."

Couldn't any team that was losing a match and failed to meet timelines defend itself in this manner? Ridiculous.

Sounds like he's angling for a job in City's Promotions Department, or as Head of Communications.

Yeah this is a weird thing to defend, in fact are longer half-time team talks even beneficial (e.g too many instructions or info to take in?)

Or Pep could just do a Phil Brown and have his players sit in a circle on the pitch.

Can't quite see anything concrete from credible sources bar a few foreign accounts with a few followers, but it's all over twitter that they could face a 60 point deduction this season.

I heard this at footy last night. No mainstream media reporting it but alot of chat on more indie stuff

One thing was said , no deduction this season as teams in championship could complain that it's basically a gimme for them coming up next year

But start next season with deduction instead.

Not going to happen like but be fun if they started with - 60 and had to just win everything to stay up 😂

How would it make a difference if they came right back up next season or the season after?

Well a 60 point deduction at the start of next season doesn't mean they will definitely go down. They could still stay up if they win most games

I think what they were saying is, they've punished them but not 100% sent them down, they just couldn't get the points they needed to stay up so ita not the prem leagues fault ....

Ah okay, that makes sense then. Selfishly I'd rather they went down this year as it moves us up a place when we're close to Europe!

I'd rather they went this season too as we never got the chance to defer the penalty to next season, they were desperate to send us down. We all know the PL are fair and transparent across the league so I'm sure the'll apply the same rules as they did with us and Chelsea* etc.

I mean, that’s why this whole farce is taking so long anyway, PL too cowardly to just enforce a punishment

Are they doing this just to keep Spurs up?
