Andoni Iraola
Lads just come in and said he's interested, but I haven't found anything concrete other than it's discussed on Red Cafe...
Can't see him going to Palace ,
And it's all probably smoke n mirrors , but I'll hang it out would you appoint him.

Yes. Can't imagine hed want to come here though. The original rumour was his family were homesick and he wanted to go back to Spain

Re: Andoni Iraola
Sounds like nonsense honestly.
Don't think we've any interest in changing managers this summer.

Re: Andoni Iraola
It's all about timings. If TFG were in during the summer of 2024, then perhaps Moyes would have been given two full seasons and his contract would be up this summer. Iraola would have then been an option amongst other candidates available.
If Angus Kinnear/recruitment team and Moyes can agree on players to bring in and play next season then Moyes should be given that opportunity.

Re: Andoni Iraola
Yeah it's nonsense, he'll have better offers and we aren't looking to make a change.
TFG wanted to stabilise the club and build upon some solid foundations, which is exactly what's happening. Moyes has done more than enough for them to be satisfied.
Last thing they'll do is take the newly stabilised platform and risk it falling apart by changing manager, even if that manager is someone as good as Ireola.

Re: Andoni Iraola
Next move is a big decision for Iraola. He's at the stage where Potter was when he left Brighton. Things can go south very quickly if you pick the wrong club, and you can find yourself managing a smaller international team.
Don't think the timing is right to come here. I actually think Palace makes more sense for him than someone like Chelsea.

Re: Andoni Iraola
This is correct, they wanted to implement a new way of working, with those foundations including a transfer committee that identifies young talent that can be developed and turned into profit. We have part of it working, yet the manager isn't buying into it, Iraola has a proven record of working like this.
I don't think this will happen, and think Moyes will be given next year, despite it being the wrong decision, but I also wouldn't be surprised if TFG are actually pretty disappointed with how he's performed on this front.
Re: Andoni Iraola
Let me start by saying I don't believe the rumour.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2026 6:36 pm Yeah it's nonsense, he'll have better offers and we aren't looking to make a change.

But I think you make a lot of assumptions about TFG here, not really based on anything such as stating Moyes has done more than enough for them to be satisified. The simple fact is we just don't know what they think, and in fact at Roma they've shown signs of being trigger-happy when it comes to getting rid of a manager.
To reiterate, I'm not saying you're wrong - but I am saying that we don't know.
Re: Andoni Iraola
I can’t imagine this is true for all the reasons laid out above.
I also think - can you imagine the wider media reaction to us sacking Moyes after this season and hiring a fancy foreign manager?
Not to say it would or wouldn’t work out but my god that would not warmly received. And can you imagine when we inevitably drop form what they will say!
Not reasons to not do it like.

Re: Andoni Iraola
TFG shocked and upset Roma fans when they sacked de Rossi, so they're not above making difficult, unpopular decisions.
I don't believe it, but I would imagine (and hope) there's been a conversation at board level, given Iraola's qualities and his availability.
Not that I want Moyes sacked, but I wouldn't be upset by such a move. I think if we were 12-months down the line in this club re-build project this would have more legs. Timings don't quite line up though, yet (I don't think).

Re: Andoni Iraola
I’m pretty sure he’s leaving to go back to Spain. Can’t see him leaving for Chelsea and it doesn’t make sense going to Palace or us, especially with Bournemouth having Europe next season.
Re: Andoni Iraola
I’m a big Moyes fan and would keep him here for another 3-4 years if he continues to improve.
However, if Iraola wanted us now I’d do it now. I wouldn’t hesitate.

Re: Andoni Iraola
The board may take a view that the club has stabilised. Similar but incrementally better points totals across this and past two seasons, have banished the ever-present cloud of relegation, moved stadiums, new board structure and finances on a stable footing all point to the fact that we are in a position to make decisions about which way we want to move forward.
We went through a crazy period but the club doesn't resemble that anymore so we can't keep living in the past, being eternally grateful and thinking it is amazing we are sat safely in mid table with an outside chance of the Conference League.
If the board decide they want a younger talented manager to take them forwards then I wouldn't begrudge them the right to assess all options. Doesn't mean that Moyes has done a bad job, just that TFG might want someone now who resembles their ambitious, positive, forward thinking outlook.

I know it's been a long season, but eternally grateful is a stretch.Bumble wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2026 9:33 am The board may take a view that the club has stabilised. I agree though, this is the kind of manager we should take some risks on. It'd be frustrating to miss out on him only to replace Moyes with someone worse in a year or two's time.
