Re: David Moyes
We should release him to go be the next Scotland manager - it gives us all a way out with dignity.
I really think he’ll be fired mid season if he’s still here next season - it would be a sad way to end the relationship with Moyes

Re: David Moyes
Makes sense all round IF the board have been working on this possible scenario and have a number of contingencies in place.StirlingBlue wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2026 9:37 am We should release him to go be the next Scotland manager - it gives us all a way out with dignity.

Re: David Moyes
He’s already signed an extension, just the club won’t confirm until we make some signings.
Still think he’s gone next season, regardless. Just can’t be having a “lame duck” manager this season, which is a big thing in US sports/owners.

Re: David Moyes
Would love it to happen and think it will makes things easier parting ways amicably but ultimately, money talks.
Moyes is on £5m a year at Everton (crazy money btw) whilst Steve Clarke was on £500k at Scotland.
Moyes doesn't strike me as the type of guy to give that up.

Re: David Moyes
Moyes and Clarke are just two cheeks of the same arse. Moyes would player similar football and his record in knockout football is awful so there's no reason to think he'd be any better if we did qualify for the Euros or world cups.

Re: David Moyes
He won’t leave Everton for Scotland.
The Scotland job is reasonably prestigious but not that prestigious.
Walter Smith left the Scotland role when the Rangers job was vacant and Alex McLeish left the Scotland role the first time around for the Birmingham job when they were in a Premier League relegation battle.
So they will likely get someone who is managing currently a non old-firm club, or a vacant manager or maybe Scott Gemmill or Naismith.

Re: David Moyes
Yep - if Moyes was planning to leave this summer, he would have taken the Celtic job.toffee_scot wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2026 12:04 pm He won’t leave Everton for Scotland.
