They’re also selling a centre back who’s never played for them to Brighton for £43m thoughblueToffee wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 8:28 pm I think you said the difference at the start, that Spurs are willing to overpay. They're probably overpaying in the wages department too. Same thing as Man United have been doing really for ages too.
That's the difference though with the teams who don't have to worry about PSR and those that do. Everton just don't have the same flexibility to throw money around.

Re: General Transfer Thread
I think if you have half a billion to spend then it doesnt matter because thats a project you can believe in.Raptor wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 8:12 pm I really like Tonali, he's a very good player and I'm surprised he didn't have better offers, but that might be down to the fee Spurs are willing to pay.
If I was a Spurs fan id be really optimistic about next season, looking promising. It also dispels the theory that gets pushed around about our struggles in the market and not being able to attract good players due to lack of Europe etc, etc, etc. if you show the right ambition, get the right manager in then players will want to be part of that project
Re: General Transfer Thread
We should’ve killed them when we had the chance.
Utterly ridiculous that they’re able to spend like that.

Re: General Transfer Thread
The gap is too huge.
They spend over £200 million net last season and are dropping another £250 million on Fernandes, Tonali, and Van Hecke.
I doubt they're done either.
They'll spend more net in 2 seasons than we will in 20. There's no way to compete with that long term.

Re: General Transfer Thread
Plus they also bought Gallagher who plays a similar position for £45 million this January. Insane amount being spent for a team that finished 17th twice in a row

Even relegation wouldn't have stopped them. Theyd have come straight back up and been spending like this the season afterwards.

We already have too many dopes who run around a lot and don’t actually do anything.

Re: General Transfer Thread
Up until now Spurs (Levy era) haven’t really been big spenders, certainly not on wages, so I imagine, from a PSR point of view, they’re fine to spend big this summer.
Re: General Transfer Thread
Some wild names here. Isak being 4th on the list is hilarious. Assume Neymar figure is supposed to be 222.

Looks like the majority of that list were poor signings for 1 reason or another
Re: General Transfer Thread
Shows you how lame the mega clubs are.
There’s generally no excuse for them to not be challenging for things with the squad they already have so to show off their ambition or to freshen things up, they pay silly money for players in great form who are comparable to or only a marginal improvement on the ones they already have.
Anderson doesn’t move the needle at all for City. They should’ve been much better last season with the squad they have.

Anderson isn't even worth half of what city paid for him.
If this was business or industry, the fraud squad would be crawling over this.
Fair play to Forest for rinsing city, but this is just another example of a club where money is no object
