Jack Grealish
Re: Jack Grealish
I’m still in.
He’s so fucking good and he fully bought into the club. That combo basically does not exist on the open market.
I’m against almost all forms of short-termism but not this. He sets the level for how hard you have to work when you’re on the pitch and he’s a total joy to watch.
Bring him home.

Re: Jack Grealish
Could be and want to be wrong but with all the much publicised drinking and his own admissions he likes a beverage, together with him dropping down a level, after winning it all at 30 - I just see injuries, disappointment and resentment from other players on half of his salary.
Re: Jack Grealish
I think my issue is just the finances... If we sell Ndaiye for £75m, that allows us to spend 1/3 of that this summer (as per @Bluedylan1 who informed me of this new rule).
Minus his book value which must be about £4m - £5m, that would give us circa £70m profit and £23.3m available.
We need a right back, CM and winger, so spending around half of it on Grealish's wages seems extremely wasteful.
I'd much rather us use that money on the first year's payments for 3 permanent signings.

Re: Jack Grealish
If he is available we have to go again with Jack.
I have no doubts about him or his fitness for the next year at least. For longevity purposes, it could be an issue, but he will elevate anything that we currently have to a new level. It’s not a muscular or reoccurring issue either, and has been fixed with surgery and rehab.
Just having him around training and in the team is a massive bonus.
If we sell Illi then this is a must to replace that ball carrying ability. I don’t see where else we will find a “sure thing” in that regard.

Re: Jack Grealish
Purely as a player he’d be a good addition, and we have plenty of young attackers to counteract his age in squad building.
Completely dependent on the finances though, £20m fee and big wages and it’s terrible - it would have to be a deal that works for us not just him

Re: Jack Grealish
I don’t think there’d be resentment. Everybody loves him and he’s several levels above anyone else we have, bar Pickford (maybe only one or two above Pickford) so no one’s going to kick up a fuss or say he’s not worth it when he can do things they can’t.

Re: Jack Grealish
He cant do much at all if hes not fit. Hes a daft signing if its on a long term contract but then we are daft

I haven't seen anyone advocate for signing him to a long term contract. Another years loan would be ideal.

Another year loan costs 15 million just to cover wages can we take the chance he stays fit it’s a big gamble

Re: Jack Grealish
Folk still talking about his fitness when I dug out the stats of how his fitness record is better than average and his injuries are impact related due to being kicked off the park.
This ‘doesn’t look after himself’ line is a myth. Could he do better? Sure, probably, if he tried. But it’s not stopping him from being an elite footballer at the top level and he also looks to be in great shape.
I get concerns about his age and drop-off - but when has his game ever been about pace? He’s another James in that regard.
I’d happily take him for 2-3 years. Light years better than anybody else and it may just be down to his work life balance and staying happy.

If we'd moved on Moyes in the summer I would see the argument, but with Moyes still here it doesn't work.Kerryblueboy wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 11:38 am Another year loan costs 15 million just to cover wages can we take the chance he stays fit it’s a big gamble
The only reason we could justify such an outlay for one season would be if we needed him to avoid relegation (we don't) or if he would be the missing piece of the puzzle to get us European qualification (he's not)
