Re: Adam Aznou
Mykolenko getting a new contract was absolutely criminal. In terms of value, there’s absolutely no doubt that the better value would have been letting him run his contract down and finally being rid of him in 12 months.

Good recovery pace, but not convincing or strong in the tackle. But that will come if he works on it, he’s got all the things you can’t teach like pace and desire to attack and beat a man.

Exactly and if Moyes can see he is shite then why did he get a new deal?Bob Sacamano wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2026 9:25 pm Mykolenko getting a new contract was absolutely criminal. It's honestly insane being at the game and seeing miles or space on the wing and wondering why the fuck he isn't moving into that space.
Kills every single attack.

There’s no ruthlessness or even conviction in anything we do. We just faff around hoping to not make a mistake. It why we’re watching Keane and Tarkowski. We’re terrified about a new defender being worse than either of those two dopes.
It’s been 70 years since we bought a right back and were so in our own heads that we can’t be seen to fuck it up that we’re constantly fucking it up.
Re: Adam Aznou
A lack of evidence will always mean people on here demand they be put in because they 'can't be any worse'.blueToffee wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2026 9:15 pm The repeated talking point is Aznou is a defensive liability...but genuinely have we really seen that ourselves in these handful of appearances?
He's looked interesting going forward and I don't think it's been anything calamitous at the back so far this preseason. Certainly nothing worse than the rest of the defence that I would single him out. And this preseason it's not hard to point fingers at defenders if you're trying. The only other bits we've seen is a snippet last preseason and 40 mins in a cup game where he was alright/good.
He may not be up to the level needed...but I don't really think we've seen that have we..? It feels like a lot of bending over backwards to justify Moyes always playing Mykolenko at every opportunity.
Maybe he plays against Newcastle and is crap, I don't know, but I'd like to see a bit more before pigeon holing him as not good enough. He's definitely made mistakes and given the ball away at times but if we ruled out anyone who did that we'd not have a starting XI.
Unfortunately 99.9% of the time those people end up looking a bit daft when the player ends up eventually plying their trade somewhere between conference league north and league one.
I'd imagine the reason we've seen so little is that he's just so far off being ready.
Doesn't mean he can't kick on and improve, but there's been nothing to suggest from his brief cameos that he's worth playing more often.
The issue isn't Aznou getting more minutes, it's the fact Mykolenko,.who was always extremely limited as a player, seems to have regressed even further from being a premier league full back.
