Yeah, I get it's more nuanced than that. Just find it massively frustrating that yet again we're sleepwalking in to a season without a right back.UnsyisaRhino wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2026 1:52 pm Maybe it's like buying a house in a huge chain. We want them, they want to sell, but someone somewhere is waiting for a sale before it all happens.
Maybe it's us and Tim getting injured stalled that sale and fucked the whole thing.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
Probably 4 out (Tim, Alcaraz, Patterson, Beto?)
Two in (RB and striker?)

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
I think at the start of the summer I would have been surprised we’d brought as many in as we have done by now. It feels like most clubs barring the elites who can pay 130 mil for whoever, have to do a lot of business after the season has started because people need deadlines to get stuff done. Players need there options to be put into focus too.
I assume we’re expecting a lot of outgoings too in that equation though as has been said. At most 3-4 coming in? I kinda thought it’d only be 1 or 2 before that statement.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
Would be brilliant if we end up getting Doue because no better options materialized. I don’t think I could even be mad at the lack of a RB in for Palace, he is clearly the best option for our longer-term ambitions.StirlingBlue wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2026 1:57 pm I think there’s a few factors:
Funds: We’re probably happy to sell Alcaraz, Tim, Patterson and maybe Beto too.
Our preferences: We’ve clearly got our eyes on Doue as first choice RB, then maybe Munoz, Norton Coffey etc. If we think our other choices aren’t going anywhere then we might be waiting for our first choice.
Players club preferences: Doue probably is hoping for a European club so he’s a no for now but might be yes if no other interest materialises.
Buying chain: We might be looking at players who aren’t for sale until their club brings in someone else. Maybe City won’t let Grealish go until they get Bouaddi/Enzo for example

The lad does give off a bit of a waft of making it up as he's going along.

Re:70%
Being positive, being positive, but remember that Leeds fan saying ‘has he rolled out his old fave ‘we tried our best…’ yet?’ - that 70% quote is nicely lined up for one of them.

Also, with our recent bias towards youth, we might even bring in a couple of youth players that we may never even see in the first team squad.
Hopefully I’m just jaded, but….

Pretty much the same script as Giulia's interview, but for the record:
Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
There's a couple of Man UTD failed youth prospects we've been heavily linked with, think one was a striker called Wheatley or something like that.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2026 2:38 pm Also, with our recent bias towards youth, we might even bring in a couple of youth players that we may never even see in the first team squad.

I wouldn't be surprised if that happens, and as long as they're free or extremely cheap, and could be part of the squad down the line then that'd be ok.
Our new youth director or some role like that just came over from Man UTD, so if he thinks they're worth adding then he's probably in a good position to know their potential.
Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
I am more than happy to wait and get a really good RB in, as long as it actually happens, and we don't wait for either no player to arrive, or that player be a bit shit and someone we could have signed weeks ago.
Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
If we have 70% of transfers to come...
We have had 6 transfers (30%) so far (IN: Hackney, Nørgaard, Johnson, Rohl, George - OUT: McNeil)
That means that I expect 70% or 14 more transfers before deadline day.
Or if you don't class Rohl and George as transfers then I expect 9.33 more transfers before deadline day.
Any less and I'll lose it after this clear promise.
(This is a tongue in cheek post if that wasn't clear!)

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
Why are we looking at another winger? Strange

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2026
I mean theoretically if we get a better player at the end of the day…it’s probably worth it? But it’s high risk if those players keep saying nope or we can’t pay enough, etc and we’re left bringing in someone we could’ve bedded in way earlier or even going with what we’ve got as we’ve done before the strategy will rightly look very stupid.
Unfortunately the latter seemed like what happened last season so it is a bit surprising they’re going with it again. Maybe there is more financial leeway to help push a deal through this time perhaps.
