I didn't see it that way at all. He said we've bid for a few, and that we want one who's noticeably better than Merlin Rohl.

Interesting to hear him say we had bid on a few and we didn't meet clubs valuations. Also mentioned bidding for a player who's now injured (Johnstone).The fact that he called Patto Craig kind of says it all too.
I still think we will get someone in when there is some movement and other clubs need to do business closer to the end of the window.
At the same time I certainly wouldn't be surprised if we don't.
