Dyche - HE'S GONE
Re: Dyche
Up to now I’ve thought he deserved a fair go and was worth sticking with while we’re in the mess we are - that he was probably the best man for the job.
But… when a team is in the kind of run we are and never looking likely to score another goal - sometimes a change is necessary.
Only for those below us being so shit, the run we’ve had since December would possibly have seen us in the bottom 3. It’s relegation form any other season and there’s no sign of improvement.

Re: Dyche
I think it's important to note that almost every team down the bottom is constantly losing games... It's the nature of being a relegation battle level team.
Changing manager won't change the issues that see us down there. Harrison will still be shit, none of our midfielders will be able to contribute from open play, DCL and Beto will still be short of goals.
We're down the bottom because of the poor players in the first team, the lack of squad depth, the over reliance on key players who are knackered, and the general anxiety around the squad a relegation fight brings.
A new manager might possibly bring a small bounce, but also might not, and I don't see much in this team that suggests we're doing poorly because of the manager to an extent someone else coming in immediately turns it around.
It's not like we're Villa under slippy G, where it's just poor management that's the issue. It's waaaaaaay more deep routed than that, and changing managers is unlikely to bring much positive to the situation.

Re: Dyche
We've played 3rd(twice), 4th, 5th(twice) 6th 7th 8th and 9th, as well as two bottom half teams, Fulham and Palace who are both above us comfortably and we should have beaten. And a few of the top 10 we outplayed and should have won had we taken our chances. Prior to that run we'd won 8 from 12.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 1:36 pm Nowhere near good enough from Dyche since Xmas. Underusing subs, not finding a way to get results at home, not using players like Beto and Danjuma (when he was fit) nearly enough, 11 games and effectively 4 months without a win, mostly terrible football.
More than happy to move on from him, as soon as the club's situation allows.

A game against 5th isn't a throwaway. A game against 9th? Come off it. Palace, Fulham. Come on.
Re: Dyche
Does my head in all this "we haven't won in x number of games" we haven't won BUT:
NOT INCLUDING THE FA CUP GAMES ISNCE THE 2ND DECEMBER.
We've played 15 lost 6 - drew 5 - won 4...
Some of the performances have been good - some have been average - some have been poor.
I don't think it's on DYCHE.. I think it's on the players...we've had a bit of hard luck along the way eg: The disallowed goal v Spurs - a worldy from a player i dont think has scored since ? 3 penalties against Manu etc....but it's mainly been down to poor finishing and that's not down to DYCHE that's down to the players.
Ye can coach finishing all day everyday but on the day if they're missing chances there's nothing the manager can do.
Change the manager I dunno..a) who would come in ? b) who would want to ?

Re: Dyche
Although the facts are clear regarding wins....The intonation of "not won a game in x games" is that we've lost them all....why don't people/pundits say "although everton haven't won in x games they have drawn y and won z ?" because it makes a better storyline to say we haven't won...

Re: Dyche
You're right. 5 points from the last 33 sounds better. Strong argument.4evablu wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 12:15 pm Although the facts are clear regarding wins....The intonation of "not won a game in x games" is that we've lost them all....why don't people/pundits say "although everton haven't won in x games they have drawn y and won z ?" because it makes a better storyline to say we haven't won...
Re: Dyche
I mean this in the best possible way and I think that *in general* your position is right - clubs a mess, that's the real problem - but I do think you are possibly just tipping into 'drunk the koolaid' territory irt Dyche infallibility.
Re: Dyche
True, but also we need to remember we don't win without Doucoure and him being out really derailed things.
Of course the argument is the manager should find a way to play without him, but Gomes played one game and then also got injured, and Danjuma got injured... So play... Erm... No I have no idea either.
I'd give him a bit of a pass for a good chunk of this run, however I think Palace wasn't one I'd give him a total pass for, and it does now seem even with Doucoure and Onana back the wheels have come off which is concerning.
Hopefully the break gives tired legs time to recover, injuries to heal and some tactical work to enable us to play like we did after the points deduction.
If we go a few more games without a win instead I'll have to admit that my faith will be wavering at that point. As it is I feel for the most part at least there's been some seriously large mitigating factors in the poor run.
