I think it's a great league on the whole. Massive teams like Man U and Chelsea struggling all season, despite the money they've spent, clubs like Villa and Spurs jockeying for places high up, a 3 way title race for most of the season, clubs like Palace, Bournemouth and Brighton all have lots of quality and can beat anybody on their day.

Way better than other European leagues.

City are a bit of an outlier, because of their finances and because they have one of the greatest managers ever, but soon as he goes (which I think will be fairly soon), they'll be back into the pack with the other clubs.

Its refreshing to see the likes of Chelsea and ManU struggling. The middle's ok, but the absolute top and bottom are almost in leagues of their own.

It might be better than some other leagues, but none of them seem particularly competitive either. Germany's big surprise is a new winner for the first time in over a dozen years.

The disparity in England seems like its growing, there would have to be some good quantitative statistical data that would show the spread of points is wider than ever, but from a quick sample since it's been a 20 team league...

In 1996 the top three collected 2.3x times as many points as the bottom three.

In 2004 the top three collected 2.6x times as many points as the bottom three.

In 2014 the top three collected 2.7x times as many points as the bottom three.

In 2024 the top three collected 4x times as many points as the bottom three.

That's is pretty startling; not only are the top and bottom wider apart the they've ever been, but the difference between them is accelerating.

Not sure if we'll have the same one or two winners from here on, but importantly the same group of 6 or 7 clubs yo yo-ing the trap door each season.

PSR and the inception of the premier league itself has helped create a big problem. It is less competitive than it has ever been.

The trend is definitely in that direction but this year with all three relegated clubs accumulating 26 or fewer points feels like an extreme. I'd be very surprised if that was enough to keep you up next year.
