Manager Merry-Go-Round
Re: Manager Merry-Go-Round
5 years, that'll be some pay-out when they realise nearly bottling an insurmountable lead with the strongest squad in the championship isn't a great indication for managing one of the top clubs in the league. Chelsea would be monumentally fucked if PSR affected top clubs.
Re: Manager Merry-Go-Round
Just when I thought Chelsea couldn't get more weird.
I mean it may work, but they're in Europe next season, plus would be expected to challenge for top 4, and they've got a guy in who's never had any of this experience.
It's a joy to watch tbh

Massive step down from Poch.
Their owners just simply don't get football, and the way it works. Absolute fantasists. Running the club like a teenager playing footie manager.

Re: Manager Merry-Go-Round
Because they are so ridiculously one eyed they might even pat themselves on the back for this next summer. Because they finished 6th this year, they'll pass off 5th as progress and given how they didn't turn up till about February this year, there is a chance they do that under anyone.
The sacking of Poch is the mistake really. Took him ages to get a grip of that squad and then when he did, they made a terrible decision.
Maresca looks quite a talented young coach but that club just ruins people.

In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream.
Re: Manager Merry-Go-Round
Seems like every club is obsessed with style over substance these days.
It makes the game a worse product.
Just going to have a league full of everyone playing the same way.
Nobody seems to care about results on the pitch anymore.
It’s madness how the elite clubs are run these days.
Kompany to bayern. Flick to barca. Maresca to Chelsea. Slot to liverpool.
Go get Conte or Zidane. Win yourselves some trophies.
Stop talking about projects, how a manger fits your model and all the other nerdy rubbish.

Re: Manager Merry-Go-Round
I think as football has professionalised and corporatised, with the rise of data and analytics, clubs just want whatever the most recent thing that has worked, much like the film industry with comic book films and franchises.
So you get fewer and fewer different models and ways of playing, just as you get studios terrified of taking risks on mid budget films which may be a little different and may or may not work/make money. They want as close to a guaranteed return as possible.
It does make for a much less interesting landscape with the homogenisation of sport/culture.

I reckon there is a lot of truth in this BD, but re Pochetino I just can't see how they'd not have some rational and objective analysis and decision making processes in what is a multimillion/billion pound business. There's no way the football community/fans could know/understand more than the people running the show, otherwise they'd have employed us all by now, lol. There just must be more to it than that.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 10:48 pm I think as football has professionalised and corporatised, with the rise of data and analytics, clubs just want whatever the most recent thing that has worked, much like the film industry with comic book films and franchises.
