Re: Ben Godfrey
I can see the logic of him in CM if you’re set up with a pure destroyer type, he’s physical and can cover a lot of ground with his pace.
Passing doesn’t matter if you never have the ball

Re: Ben Godfrey
Also he isn't fast anymore either?
Been grateful to him the last few games though. He stepped up
Want to sell him still as not good enough unfortunately

Summer Transfer Window Discussion
Always seems to be linked to teams a lot better than us.
Maybe he’s not as bad as made out on here?
Thought he did really well last season myself and would be happy with him as our starting right back next season.
Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
I actually don't mind him my self as well to be fair Ram.
I'd have him comfortably as our back up over Holgate and Keane.
In his defence also he hasn't played his preferred CB position in god knows how long having been a make shift RB/LB
The last time he really impressed me was under Carlo when he partnered Mina for 10-12 games.
He isn't getting in over Tarks and Branthwaite though, but if we where to sell our back up CB's I'd comfortably keep Godfrey over Keane and Holgate.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
If we can get our money back, or somewhere near, I'd be more than happy to sell him.

I’m not a fan of him at centre half as he seems to get done in the air constantly but at full back I like himCozzie wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 10:03 am I actually don't mind him my self as well to be fair Ram.

In an era where more teams are going with centre halves in the fullback roles he can be valuable to us I think.
Have him right back, slotting in to make a three at the back when we’re on the ball and let myko loose on the left.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
I thought Godfrey did quite well last year at RB. He is a really decent backup option, and seems to be doing well under Dyche.
I was really impressed with how he covered the CBs and made some really crucial interventions. That's proper fullback work.
He is going to be coming into his peak years now, and so you would expect him to start to mature.
I think his days as a CB in a 2 are pretty much over, and so he really should work on being that RB / third CB option. Very much in the shape of Kyle Walker.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
Much improved but he seems to have a really odd way of defending wingers. Gives them too much space then tries to close the gap quickly at the last second. I'm not sure that's how its meant to be done and it led to a couple of goals where he just didn't engage

Re: Ben Godfrey
He's on 75k a week reportedly, and say you get £20m you take the money and run, and back yourself to reinvest it in more than a 2nd/3rd choice defender. Ideally one that can play football a bit and isn't a complete liability in the air.
