Re: 777 Partners Takeover
I hoped we'd steer clear of multi-club ownership but this fella does seem to be the best option of those in the public eye.
Are we a bigger club than Roma, we're certainly in a more lucrative league, but will they have a better chance of regular European football.

So is everyone pretty happy about this?
How quickly can we wipe the debt? Might help in keeping hold of Branthwaite

Re: 777 Partners Takeover
I think the rules have changed around ownership in Europe that wouldn't prevent them playing in the CL and us Europe, or vice versa. But given Roma have a much better recent pedigree in qualifying, 5 of the last 11 years have been in the CL and the other 6 in Europa league, what would be the incentive for these owners to get us to anything other than mid table mediocrity?
I get that Europe currently isnt really a consideration for us, but it's something that is potentially not even worth dreaming of either, which isnt really a situation you'd want.

The debt and requirement to sell Branthwaite (PSR) are two very separate issues sadly.
Re: 777 Partners Takeover
I'm not sure they do, the rules have previously prevented any involvement, but they have been relaxed, see below. But if we both qualified for the CL, only one of us would be able to play in it, with the other going into the Europa league.Cereal Killer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2024 7:52 pm Nah loads of teams getting around it, wouldn’t worry too much about it
The relevant changes to UEFA’s competition regulations are found in articles 5.04 and 5.05, which come into force on 1 May.
Under the previous provisions of Article 5, which has not changed much in 20 years, clubs blocked from competing in Europe because they were under the control of an investor or group that controls another qualified team, were simply replaced by the next team from their domestic competition.
But now, Article 5.04 says a club that is replaced in one competition “may still be admitted to another UEFA club competition (i.e. in descending order: UEFA Europa League or UEFA Conference League) to which the relevant national association has access”.

Re: 777 Partners Takeover
How Everton would it be for us to qualify for the CL only to be replaced by Roma because they got a last minute equaliser away to Bologna on the last day of the Serie A season.

Re: 777 Partners Takeover
I'm just very happy that it's someone who's worked in football and understands it. It's such a niche industry and normal business rules don't always apply. I was worried we'd get someone who was having their first go at football, which is the absolutely the last thing we need to endure.
