Looks like he loves to take defenders on, what we've needed for yonks, hope it's not coached out of him.

Lads, you all need to have a rethink about PSR stuff you know.

We still actually pay the full value. Often up front.
An accounting trick doesn't stop us spending the money and it hampers us in the long run.

We can have a conversation about the merits of these two deals independent of PSR.

I don't think we will get this amount for DCL and I think over £30m for Minteh is a bit steep.
I wouldn't be surprised if our stance on DCL is specifically to bring the price down as a whole

Yeah but it won’t hinder us long term, they’re changing the rules

And it’ll save us massively short term and allow some kind of rebuild which we desperately need

Very true. The rules change in 2025-26 if I remember correctly. So the goal posts are moving. In the future it’ll be down to percentage of turnover spent based on if you’re in Europe or not.

But we still have to *spend* the money. PSR rules or no.

It'll hinder us if we do deals for PSR reasons as opposed to affordability reasons

Edit:
The fact I can write that in all seriousness shows just how fucked the rules are as a concept

Agreed, but you still have to be competitive and look to improve the squad. Which will ultimately cost money. However if you can do that in a way that is cost effective and improves the PSR position as it stands then it’s all good.

How is it costing us if the money we spend each year matches the payment received? The payments just offset each other in the accounts and no actual money is transfered either way.

Because not buying a player means we would only be making money, not cutting even.

Either this lad is worth £30m or he is not.
PSR and DCL should not come into the equation when discussing him.

AjaxAndy wrote: Sun Jun 23, 2024 11:30 am For me effectively swapping an injury prone striker in the last year of his contract for a young high ceiling right winger is really smart and nothing to do with cooking the books.

I'd imagine it's beneficial from PSR point of view but that's just smart business not short term thinking.

We've by all accounts used the Tim Irrefutablysignedforpsrnam transfer to balance the books for this current period, so we aren't doing business like with selling Richarlison for arguably sub market value. However if we sell DCL for £30m and sign Minteh for the same it clearly enables us to spend money on a DCL replacement as we'd effectively have a good chunk of cash still left over due to Minteh only costing around £6m in the same accounting period.

We've done some dodgy people trafficking to meet PSR requirements for this year no doubt, although think we've got a good deal there because we've got a player we can actually use and develop whilst shifting one we can't and may not ever be premier league standard.

It feels like we're working in a smart and logical way, which feels weird and highly unusual to say when talking about Everton. Long may it continue!
I’d like to give this an extra like purely for Tim’s new name 👍🏻👍🏻

If we’re getting £37m for DCL then that’s probably £17m more than his worth, meaning we’re getting Minteh for £13m really, about right for a promising young attacker.
