He was always going to go, the injured period just delayed it, just time to start doing proper business instead of the cluster fuck we've been at since Moshiri arrived.

1. Does the oil rig have a group of loyal small investors that come there every week to cheer him on and support the business financially, effectively giving him his job? Newcastles cold but hardly comparable to Antarctica. What if the oil rig worker refuses the contract in Antarctica but goes there anyway, the company goes into administration, and all the investors lose their money? Do they have a right to feel cheated?
2. ‘Honouring a contract’ is a legal term with financial ramifications for not doing so. There are many things footballers can do that are not in their contract like not putting a shift in for example or flat out milking the club or shagging a team mates wife, so would that be an honourable thing to do?
3. I never said it was a binary choice or that he is or isn’t a snake, just that it was a snake move. I like him as a player and as a person but it would be a bit of a sour end imo if it plays out that way
1. They have a right to feel like they should have managed the situation better, and also understand that you can’t own a person and that the welder is free to choose. If their offer was not attractive enough, so be it.
2. I know it is a legal term I asked how you think it got its name? Because if you keep your word you are acting honourably.
3. You asked if he was a snake or not.
I understand you would feel sour, I get it 100%. Me too. But my bitter disappointment is all pointed at the company in charge of managing the situation. If we offered the right deal, if we weren’t a complete shitshow, if we hadn’t been mismanaged for decades, etc. etc. From an objective point of view it’s not an employer that seems to offer much.
Anyway, Calvert-Lewin, great player, wonderful athlete and comes across as a thoroughly nice guy. He’s fought through a nightmare series of injuries and the mental stress that’s put on him and did it all, mostly, with a smile on his face. I can’t think of a moment I’ve felt he’s let us down, always puts a shift in despite being badly served by a number of managers using him as a work-horse and risking him with early returns from injury.
I’d love us to keep him but, if we don’t, that will be as much our decision as his.

Big cenk with the winner this evening and a full head of hair to boot
I take it you're totally unaware that there's a completely seperate forum for general football chat? There's like a whole thread there just for the Euros.

1. The welder can refuse the contract and I can say he’s a snake when my share price drops because of it. Get over it
2. It’s a legal contract not a handshake agreement. If we’re just relying solely on honour then why have a contract at all. It really has nothing to do with ‘honour’ in the traditional sense and just means you do what is written in the contract or we sue you. Players don’t break contract terms for financial reasons not because they’re damn decent fellows.
3. In terms of DCL I only said it was a snakey thing to do. As a fan it’s my prerogative to be completely irrational when a player leaves the club and costs us money. I’m very rational about most things Everton related but I reserve the right to fly off the handle occasionally on a forum

Think you’re missing some of my points and I’m missing some of yours so let’s just call this a draw before the mods get the banning stick out!
I wonder what sort of striker we get when he goes.
I'm sure most would say "we need a finisher" but I think you're absolutely kidding yourselves. We will need and we will get an outlet. A big man who can run around and bash into the cbs.
