Jaden Philogene
Re: Jaden Philogene
If this man genuinely thinks he can oust the incredibly talented and supreme class of LEWIS DOBBIN on the wings for Villa then he's dumber than I thought.

Can't imagine they could force him to sign for villa. How would they even decide on a contract if he had to go regardlessAmerican Evertonian wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 2:56 pm Doubtful. Seems Villa’s clause would restrict him from going to another clause if they match the price. Otherwise this clause would be meaningless and they would never include it in contracts.

Re: Jaden Philogene
Think he'd be silly to go to villa. Think their interest is more about his transfer value than his value to their team

I would presume they would stay on the same contract without an extension.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 3:23 pm Can't imagine they could force him to sign for villa. How would they even decide on a contract if he had to go regardless
I assume it is possible, I just doubt it happens since teams don’t want players that don’t want to be there.

No they can't force anyone to sign for anyone.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 3:23 pm Can't imagine they could force him to sign for villa. How would they even decide on a contract if he had to go regardless
The clause just guarantees that Villa the option to have their offer accepted, if they match the highest bidder. It would still be upto the player where he goes.
Re: Jaden Philogene
Deffo going to get into "release clause" territory and the endless explanations on this one aren't we hahaha?

Re: Jaden Philogene
Villa could’ve loaned him to Hull and got a fee, but instead they sell him to them for £5m and then buy him back for £13m.
So essentially Villa have paid Hull £8m to develop their player for a year, and now they also have to pay this in-demand player significantly more than they were paying him.
I genuinely can’t work out if this was clever or not.

Yeah, indeed.
Although they’re sailing pretty close to the psr wind right now, but I suppose this goes on different accounts.
