Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
A small procedure 5 weeks ago still no sign my spidey senses are tingling here
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
I don't think keeping him is the right option if a bid comes in either judging by what I just watched today. Rock and a hard place!sam of the south wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 3:06 pm I don’t think doing it late in the window would be doing it right, particularly as Dyche isn’t playing our new cb over Keane, plus Beto is a bit poo, Chermiti is injured, and Maupay is a twat.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
I see what you’re saying, but he can come good, maybe?
*talking about DCL here btw, obvs
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Oh yeah I'd keep DCL if he'd sign a new deal, I don't think he will though and if a decent bid comes in we have to sell.sam of the south wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 4:48 pm I see what you’re saying, but he can come good, maybe?(I know that he only really hit a purple patch in those first few weeks under Ancelotti, but I’m clinging onto it)

I'd rather he signed an extension though.
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Time to cash in and reinvest before we get relegated??
Not the preferred option but might be the most sensible given the first two games

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Half of it will go straight into the club.
5 days to sign who and what, with around £30m if we’re lucky?
We’d be a worse team most probably.

Given the first two games, then the most sensible option is to keep him and get him back in the side.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
We have a very, very, short list of genuine top half PL players and Branthwaite is one of them. Selling him this week and rolling the dice on replacing him without losing quality in the side is just about as risky a strategy as you can get.
What we would need to happen is another youngster like him comes in on low wages because we can’t afford established PL defender wages. So the ‘new JB’ would not only have to come in untested but also have to perform as well and get up to speed immediately.
Just not going to happen is it? Keep the lad, have a great season with us and sell him for £200M in the summer.

I think we'd be much stronger with getting a competent CB, an actual RB and a backup LB than we'd be keeping Jarrod personally.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 9:12 am We have a very, very, short list of genuine top half PL players and Branthwaite is one of them. I don't think you need to even be all that great to be a solid CB in a Dyche side, just have the basics and a decent mentality.
We can't just cling on to Branthwaite because he's had one good season under Dyche, there's every chance we could replicate that with a new player or JOB given how CBs tend to excel under this manager.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Keep him imo. Before JB came into the team Tarkowski was looking like a championship clogger. Since Branthwaite has been injured surprise surprise he’s looking like a championship clogger. Keane is shite and we can bring in Mina for his 12 games a season to get us out of jail.
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Yeah I would like to see him back in the team now please.
If onanas replacement was £10m ffp job Tim, then god knows who this kids replacement would be.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Apart from some dodgy Liverpool stories there's not been anything linking him with a move other than the Utd bids. It would take a crazy offer for us to sell this late in the window and anyone interested will know that. He's not pushing for a move and by all accounts is happy here.
I'm confident he'll be here this season.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
All well and good if the money we get goes on new players, but with the takeover not happening before the next window, then I’d imagine the money we get would be used to “keep the lights on” over the winter.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 9:40 am I think we'd be much stronger with getting a competent CB, an actual RB and a backup LB than we'd be keeping Jarrod personally.

Yeah definitely only advocating selling to improve the squad otherwise there'd be absolutely no benefitBluebridge wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 11:06 am All well and good if the money we get goes on new players, but with the takeover not happening before the next window, then I’d imagine the money we get would be used to “keep the lights on” over the winter.
