Forget the 25% possession than means we concede chances, the fact that Tielemens made joint record breaking 34 passes in the final third and being tactically battered every game.

He put that on DCL clearly by his deflection and he’s abrasive manor is becoming more and more corrosive
Yeah, I don’t see that as blaming DCL, and I didn’t see him blaming the fans the other week when he apparently did.

People interpret things differently. We’ll be here in 18 months with another manager overanalysing everything they say when things have gone to shit.

Just been out shopping with the wife. It was less painful than last night. I was disappointed to see Dyche still here.

I think it's fair to give him a lot of credit for keeping us up twice. When he took over from Lampard we looked doomed yet he turned it around and did a really good job to maintain our Premier League status.

Despite the 4 months winless run and all the points deductions madness he kept us up with a very respectable points haul. Again deserves a lot of respect for that.

It's also fair to acknowledge all that and question whether he should be in charge moving forward. However I feel people are very quick to call him all sorts without ever acknowledging that overall he's done a really good job and kept us from financial Armageddon all with both hands tied behind his back.

When he does leave I imagine he'll feel that he never got a fair go from a lot of supporters and I'd say he's got a valid argument there.

Doesn't change that he's dug himself a hole though and it's very likely he gets swallowed by it now.

Definitely! People interpret things differently. I wonder how DCL interpreted it

Dyche wouldn’t be the first manager to say what he said.

If a team misses big chances in a game they lose managers will always mention it.

I think we all know this, but now the tide has turned on the manager we’re picking up on everything he says.

He said last night the fans have been amazing and he’s not going to get into questioning them over the boos last night.

Not one comment anywhere on that. It’s just all about sticking the boot in anywhere we can at the moment.

Shogun wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 12:37 pm Feel like people overlook that the reason the full backs are the way they are is down to Dyche. He’s the reason Young and Coleman stayed Everton players after last summer.

Sure, maybe there’s a financial element to that, but you can’t tell me Ashley Young was the only full back option in the summer and after last season then it was clear he wasn’t up to being a Premier League footballer.
I'm not really having he's the reason young and Coleman got renewed. I think pretty much every decision we make is 90% financial. We are signing players we don't really want because we can pay later, they are cheap or because they are available on loan.

I don't think beto is here because of the manager or the dof. He's here because we could defer payment for a year. Our recruitment is awful but it's going to be when the main factor is if we get a payment plan.

I think suggesting anyone at the club really picked young or Coleman is a bit silly.

18th XG
19th XG allowed
17th shots taken
19th shots on target faced
19th passes into final third
17th passes into pen area
18th shots created from open play passes
19th possession

Yeah we are going down.

Young hasn’t had the career he’s had to play for us for £5k per week though. He’ll be on a hefty wedge. There’ll have been cheaper and better options out there. The only reason he was handed another contract is because he has the (misguided) trust of the manager.

Of course he's been a poor signing and there were better options with hindsight but when your budget is so small you make some poor signings. Who did you want instead. I would have liked to see both him and doucoure leave but I'm not sure there's loads of better options when you've literally zero for a fee or agents fees

I think the truth is we probably needed to sell branthwaite to buy players

It's scary.

Only way is up surely.

Starts Saturday, Leicester don't look any great shakes themselves. Get fucking hold of it.

Edit: also villa Brighton Bournemouth spurs - good sides there. Bournemouth are 4th in xg created like.

So you're telling me there's a chance?

Seriously though, what team is 20th? Surprised there's a worse team in a few of those metrics.

Money is money. When you spend big on wages to "save" on transfer fees, you're still wasting money. And it all has to be accounted for, one way or another.
