Dyche - HE'S GONE
Re: Dyche
No Branthwaite, no DCL, no Doucoure who we've barely won a game without for 3 years, no Gana, Tarks a year older.
Still no right back, still no back up left back... Yes we will hopefully recruit these but we need soooo many players who knows if we will or what the quality will be.
We will have 12-13 players, and most are kinda crap. Our midfield will literally be Garner and Tim unless I'm forgetting someone.
Trying to firstly bed half a new squad in is really tough, you need them to gel very quickly which is no easy task. Secondly we need to recruit well but stretch the money across many players so either we buy incredibly well or we have big problems.
Yes we finished effectively 12th last season, with a team that consisted of Branthwaite, DCL, Doucoure, Gana and Onana... all of them will be gone at the end of this season other than Onana who already has.
I would be more optimistic if the 12 players we retained were quality and it was just adding depth, but they really aren't. Out of those remaining out only decent players will be Pickford, McNeil and Ndaiye, with Tarks and Mykolenko as ok.
We've seen this year without Branthwaite how much we struggle, well take him and half the team away and it's a very difficult picture.
We may recruit well, we don't usually but maybe we will this time... Only we'll have to wait for Branthwaite to be out the door so unless that happens early it makes things even harder as we rush about trying to finalise deals before the season starts.
It's a bit of a cluster fuck and that's not really a good place to build something successful from, or relatively successful in terms of our recent history.

You’ve undersold it that much I think even dyche would say nah.
Re: Dyche
If were not confident of replacing a striker that doesnt score and a midfielder that cant control the ball or pass it, then we really are done and might as well fold the club
Re: Dyche
Yep it's easy to say that now, and to an extent I agree... But how far will the money stretch? We would have to be very lucky / recruit well to replace DCL for £20m or less.
Doucoure I feel is easier to replace but for whatever reason we've seen how little we win when he's not on the pitch.
It's not necessarily replacing certain players that's the issue, it's how well we use that money when there's so many players to buy. Even 8 players at £10m each would eat every penny of a Branthwaite sale, but realistically we'd need to spend £40m-£50m on just the DCL and Branthwaite replacements alone.
We need:
1x RB
1x LB
2x CB
3x CM
2x Wide players
2x ST
That's 11 players, say 3 are loans, we've covered DCL and Branthwaite, so that means 6 players with whatever remains + whatever we can spend outside of the Jarrad sale.
Look it's doable but it's very easy to get it wrong and hard to get it right. I think it's a challenge and a big one for whoever comes in. If others don't see it that way then fair enough.

Re: Dyche
Reported on BBC gossip Dyche will be given funds in January... That's either new money or from sales... Think it's the former myself
Re: Dyche
Oddly enough, I don't think we go on that winning run in late-autumn if we didn't get the points deduction. It seemed to galvanise club.
Like the flares and the reception a year or so before that.
We're a weak squad and need external bumps to get over the line.
As Shogs said, there's loads of teams more-or-less the same as us. But that just means we're as likely to finish at the bottom of them as opposed to the top of them.

Re: Dyche
Mad how no other managers don’t know the shape of a football and that Tarkowski needs bailing out by a decent CB partner.
Give this fella a 7yr deal asap.

Re: Dyche
Be surprised if gueye or doucoure end up leaving. That's actually a problem in itself. Maybe having to renew players we might not be too keen on renewing because we are so short of both numbers and money

Re: Dyche
Yeah it's the same thing. Predicting a struggling team may continue to struggle going forwards is exactly the same as beating odds of about 100 million to 1 to predict the lottery numbers

Re: Dyche
We don't win many games without Doucoure, but on the flip side, we don't win many with him, and this is the bigger concern for me, and I'm a bit of a broken record, but I don't ever see us progressing as a football team with him anywhere near the team. He's perfect for a team that doesn't want the ball, like us ATM, but that's not my idea of football.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 3:10 pm Yep it's easy to say that now, and to an extent I agree... I do think DCL will be harder to replace and I think it would be a shame not have him around for when we're a bit more progressive as I do think he's better than the numbers he's putting out, but that could be Broja?
Using the money we'd get for Branthwaite would really enable us to replace DCL and Branthwaite, then a similar amount to strengthen the rest of the squad and we'll be golden
