Still no right back, still no back up left back... Yes we will hopefully recruit these but we need soooo many players who knows if we will or what the quality will be.

We will have 12-13 players, and most are kinda crap. Our midfield will literally be Garner and Tim unless I'm forgetting someone.

Trying to firstly bed half a new squad in is really tough, you need them to gel very quickly which is no easy task. Secondly we need to recruit well but stretch the money across many players so either we buy incredibly well or we have big problems.

Yes we finished effectively 12th last season, with a team that consisted of Branthwaite, DCL, Doucoure, Gana and Onana... all of them will be gone at the end of this season other than Onana who already has.

I would be more optimistic if the 12 players we retained were quality and it was just adding depth, but they really aren't. Out of those remaining out only decent players will be Pickford, McNeil and Ndaiye, with Tarks and Mykolenko as ok.

We've seen this year without Branthwaite how much we struggle, well take him and half the team away and it's a very difficult picture.

We may recruit well, we don't usually but maybe we will this time... Only we'll have to wait for Branthwaite to be out the door so unless that happens early it makes things even harder as we rush about trying to finalise deals before the season starts.

It's a bit of a cluster fuck and that's not really a good place to build something successful from, or relatively successful in terms of our recent history.
This is a well written post to say exactly why some people are concerned or even worried about what comes next. It doesn’t mean people are panicking, it just means some of us are more worried than others about this.

We keep having conversations about stuff and then polarising different views to make the other posters seem like they’re crazy or unreasonable. That’s why so many of our threads go round in circles.

I think we’ll be ok but I don’t have a crystal ball and the points raised above are all legitimate concerns of varying degrees.

But let’s try and discuss opinions a bit more than dismiss opinions because otherwise all we get is the ping-pong of Dyche In/ Dyche Out or Relegation Battle / Relative Safety and it causes factions and is tediously boring.

What’s the point agonising over the future when we have no way of knowing what will happen next summer. Things might look bright after the January transfer window. Cheer up!

I'm not agonising, I'm just replying to those who say moving in to the new stadium is a new dawn, that it's great we get rid of so many players in the summer so we can rebuild, and that a new manager has a great opportunity with a clean slate.

I hope it all goes smoothly and we transition in to a new era well, but also I think people need to have realistic expectations about where we are as a club come next season.

Some make out like it'll be all sunshine and rainbows, personally I see the situation as a tricky one to navigate and I'll accept it as it comes, be it good or bad.

At the risk of sounding like Forrest Gump. I'd posit that maybe, it's both? (ie, a "new dawn" and a "tricky situation to navigate")

I agree. Will be far more interesting to talk about how we might navigate some of the challenges we’re facing and what that might look like with money, proper management and some strategy.

So I remember from one of the news articles or podcasts that one of the things they did at Roma was to reduce or even eliminate loan signings because it devalued the playing squad. There will definitely be some movement in the January transfer window backed by the new owners because they have to keep us in the PL at all costs.

With the financial restraints, a loan or two might make sense, in terms of getting a better class of player. I know that they don’t like it at Roma, but we are a different more short-term proposition this season I think.

Also if long term plans don’t include Dyche, loans till the end of the season also make more sense so they can fully back a new manager going into BMD.

Do we have the option of more loans though? I'm not sure what the rules are now but we have 4 loan players on our books, two domestic and two from Europe. How many more are we allowed this season?

From the PL website:
Loans between Premier League clubs and other English counterparts are officially called temporary transfers.

Under the rules in the Premier League Handbook 2024/25 (Download PDF, size: 18.2MB), there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.

They are:
- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
- The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
- Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
- A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.

With the exception of Welsh clubs competing in the competitions listed under Rule V.6.2, loans from a club in membership of another National Association do not count towards the above quotas.

A decent point today and we'll get another few at least in the next 3 games.

But I can't wait until we get a manager that wants to keep the ball and build pressure.

Imagine how good Ndiaye could be when he's not just chasing DCL knock downs, or receiving the ball in his own half under pressure with his back to goal.

DCL must get a hell of a good night's sleep when he gets home after a match. Gone from standing on the penalty spot under Ancelotti to winning headers on the halfway line these days.

As lousy as some of the football has been, we should be solidly midtable without the late match meltdowns.

Dyche in a nutshell.
