Leon Osman and Mikel Arteta were central midfielders but were played wide originally to good effect, and largely due to having a limited squad, so there are parallels.

At least at the moment he's being played where the ball is. If he's nearer the goal perhaps he gets a bit too hungry, and/or more isolated, but out wide might be more motivated to get the ball up the pitch, and when he does we've got more players in the box to effect some shots, with potential overloads as he leaves his markers in his wake.

He played less than 5% of his total game time as a AM for Marseilles last season.

Who knows, but it's not as if we have our own version of Totti being played as RB. This isn't an open and shut case, and more importantly it means we have options as he can play all across the front and wide. Just get him on the ball.

Looked better left than central but really hard to say much when he was up against a team sitting deep with no space to run in to.

I thought he was really good first half but once the game changed with the red card his powers were somewhat diminished by their low block.

He’s good on the left. The left back being poo going forward and the poor passing from everyone means he’s never receiving the ball in the right places. He could be good in the 10 position but our other wing options are poor so it creates a problem even if it solves one.

It is quite ironic that lots of fans are calling for him in the 10 and also say that Dyche has outdated tactics. Next to no-one plays with a number 10 anymore. I’m not dead against it though but would rather play a more modern style in future.

He reminds me a bit of Sterling. He’s not an electric player who takes the full back on all the time but will be in the right place and use a bit of trickery when the opposition are stretched. We don’t/can’t play that way atm.

Genuine question but does dyche allow/encourage his full backs to get to the byline I understand young myko aren’t great going forward but the way we attack is so slow and ponderous we are dependent on a long diagonal from tark or a flick on

Young doesnt do it because he can't get back if it breaks down, myko does but his delivery is garbage.

I'm not sure dyche can take the blame for him crossing the ball into the Gwladys

Yeah Young can't spend the game getting up and down constantly because of his age, and then he also can't go too far forward because if we lose the ball and they break he's never ever getting back in to position... That's a double issue because Tarks is that side meaning you've likely got a pacey forward in acres of space and only Tarks to deal with it. It's a total car crash if we lose the ball in that situation.

Mykolenko doesn't have the pace to get to the byline, he tried it in the first half and it was embarrassingly easy for the defender to step across him and shield the ball. He got forward a lot today but that was I think the only time he tried to take on a defender to get to the byline.

He does occasionally get a pass in that position but his crossing is just so so bad nothing comes of it.

I want to like Mykolenko because he's got an adorable face and has clearly been through a lot with the war back home... But he's a championship full back and not even a particularly good one at that unfortunately, with his only redeeming feature being a good one Vs one defender.
