I'm not sure either were sacked for their league position either. They were sacked because we were getting lucky and still only averaging about half a point a game over a sustained period. You're talking about sacking a manager who's won 4pts in 2 games against a manager who won 4 in his last 9
We've got 15 in 15. I'm not sure people outside of our fans would think that's significantly short of what expected. It's not been a dreadful season against expectation it's just that we continue to be dreadful

And no, I wouldn’t take that. I think that would be a terrible season. He’s gone if he doesn’t move us out of the relegation scrap.
His job is to keep us out of trouble. It’s not to get us into trouble then claim credit because there’s been three worse teams than us.
They weren't sacked for being 16th or 17th. They were sacked because form over a significant period suggested we had no chance of surviving relegation under themTheRam wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 1:03 pm What on Earth were they sacked for then?

We were fifth favorites to be relegated. 1 of the sides below us in the betting is forest who are about 4th. It's no surprise to anyone other than everton fans that we are in a relegation battle. His job is to keep us up.

Re: Next Everton Manager
We were apparently 15th when benitez was sacked. 6 points above relegation. He was sacked because he was trending much worse than that position. I don't that's a strange thing to say.Kerryblueboy wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 1:05 pm They weren’t sacked for the league position and we in the bottom three you have outdone yourself here
Re: Next Everton Manager
We were 19th and destined for relegation under Lampard, I don't think our current situation is particularly comparable.TheRam wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 1:03 pm What on Earth were they sacked for then?

We'd lost 9 of the previous 12 and had the same number of points from 5 games more.
I think in 5 games time if we still only have 15 points then fair enough, but at present things aren't really as desperate as under Lampard.

I'm wrong on lampard. Didn't realise we were in the relegation zone when he went eitherAjaxAndy wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 1:31 pm We were 19th and destined for relegation under Lampard, I don't think our current situation is particularly comparable.

Also saying we have 15 points from 15 and did we expect more etc is missing the fact that the performances have been diabolical. We are atrocious and we've lost so many points that we should have got due to awful tactics.
Tactically inept.

Re: Next Everton Manager
Yes we definitely should be on more points, you can count Bournemouth, Southampton and Brentford where we dropped 5-9 points which would have definitely changed the conversation around the manager.Audrey Horne wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 2:19 pm Also saying we have 15 points from 15 and did we expect more etc is missing the fact that the performances have been diabolical. Be nice to be in the cup after drawing the worst side in the league at home as well

Re: Next Everton Manager
Think ultimately for me when he came in if people had offered me the 2 seasons we've had and 17th this season I'd of snatched their hands off.
We all thought we were doomed. Now here we are on the verge of the new stadium with new owners and people are saying survival this season is an awful season and the manager is tactically inept. I don't know what changed I'm that time to make standards and expectations change so much
Would anyone want to go back and swap. Dyche for anyone from that arsenal game onwards?? Honestly I'm just happy we've survived it. I think people forget we were talking about spending years outside the top flight and potential administration
I'm not set on him, I'm not suggesting he should be here next season. I think it's safer if he stays this while it appears we won't be relegated but regardless he's contributed as much as anyone to our survival through the moshiri years.

Re: Next Everton Manager
I think we'd have to try very hard to get ourselves relegated this season, Southampton are definitely going down, Ipswich are crap and Leicester although have picked up 3 points in 2 games under Ruud were soooooo flukey against West Ham it's unreal... I'd be shocked if they did anything other than struggle badly.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 3:55 pm Think ultimately for me when he came in if people had offered me the 2 seasons we've had and 17th this season I'd of snatched their hands off.

Then you have Wolves taking a random managerial punt even we didn't dare do and will probably find it really hard to improve enough to get out of trouble.
We need to cut Dyche loose if we are in any real danger, but we could probably draw our way to safety given the teams below us being terrible. I get people won't enjoy it but it's probably a case of short term pain for a better platform to make changes from in the summer.
Re: Next Everton Manager
Forest are in the champions league places and we're debating if Dyche is doing a brilliant job keeping us out of the relegation zone.

Re: Next Everton Manager
Well by that standard all the other 19 are doing a bit shit. Not sure anyone suggesting we've been anything but below par this season
Re: Next Everton Manager
I don't think anyone's debating if he's doing a brilliant job, it's more change him now or not panic and wait to see if we end up in any real trouble first.
I doubt anyone can actually argue that there's more positives than negatives to changing manager now Vs at the end of the season unless absolutely necessary, even if it's just down to us having an extra £5m to spend in the summer on a player instead of paying off yet another manager.
