It's just not working, is it? The same players, minus a points deduction, were comfortably midtable last season. If we sold Pickford or Branthwaite last summer then there'd be an excuse but otherwise there isn't really even though Jarrad was injured earlier in the season (though he didn't play the start of last season either).

Unless you believe last season was a wild overperformance, then Dyche is simply doing a poor job this season. Give the players a boost, give the fans a boost and get the new man in.

Football moves fast, so if the Friedkins have someone lined-up then they need to go for it now. Spurs are only a Carabao Cup SF battering from looking for a new manager and I'm not sure many would pick up over them.

Same players more or less but Tarks and Doucoure have downgraded, Branthwaite was injured for a chunk and we've lost Garner's set piece delivery.

We've added Ndaiye and Mangala which sort of evens it out.

Dyche's style relies on fine margins and this season we've fallen the wrong side of them too often and now it feels like as a result we're stuck in this extreme version of Dyche where he doubles down on what he believes works and compounds the issue.

I think falling the wrong side of those margins killed us because it looked like maybe we'd kick on and those 85 mins against Bournemouth was very good, but we shot ourselves in the foot and it's just been crap ever since.

I don't feel over these 18 games the squad has improved just due to players missing but he's also not able to get those fine margins in our favour like last year... and it seems clear he won't do now, it he was a car he'd be in limp home mode which isn't getting anyone anywhere in a hurry.

He's just not capable of being anything other than what he is, and when it works it's ok, but once the wheels come off he doesn't have the flexibility to turn it around in any meaningful way.

I think these players have more potential to play better football and score more goals, whilst not conceding a bunch because I think Dyche has absolutely gone and he’s past his use by date so badly he is like gone off, sour milk.

I think you play into Dyche’s narrative that he can do no more cos the players are so limited. I beg to differ, Jeff.

I think it’s a piss poor argument that no other coach could get better from these players they look so poorly coached from a football side of things can’t build attacks can’t get full backs overlapping can’t get a player in the 10 position who can pass or play players in that’s all down to bad coaching and too much loyalty to certain players imo a new manager and I bet we see much better stuff sooner hopefully than end of the season because if one of the 3 promoted teams starts putting a few results together we are in big shit

It's his stubbornness and arrogance that pisses me off the most. He's accusing the players of not doing what they were told, but no question of why. He's basically telling them play my way, which is no attack, no creativity and no goals. Needs to go and let the future dictate itself

He just has a very similar mindset to the Allardyces of the world. It's really not that deep. He clearly resents ''modern football''. That almost certainly extends to modern society as well. I imagine he thinks we're all too touchy-feely, and that he longs for the days when men were men. You can see it in the way he talks, the way he carries himself, the way he dealt with the Patterson thing last year.

He's a throwback. A man out of his time.

I think I’d be fine with a new manager coming in now and getting us looking promising and playing in a modern, sustainable way, but still got us relegated, rather than stick with Dyche this year, survive on the last day, and then go into next season with a new manager, hardly any players, and a psychological dumpster fire to put out.

I dunno, though, getting relegated in our last season at Goodison whilst the shite walks the league would be so hard to take.

I worry that even with the takeover, we'd really struggle to make the finances work and come back up from the championship within a season. We have so many horribly expensive AND crap players that we'll struggle to shift, not to mention the number who are going out of contract.

Sorry, I thought you were saying that, like it’s pointless getting a new manager in cos the players are crap and we might go down.
I think if Dyche came into this side as a new manager he would get more out of these players than he is now. I just think he’s done and the players are bored out of their skulls at this hoof ball.
