What hand is he holding that is strong? When we didn’t have anyone to make decisions he had a strong hand. Now we have long term owners in place you cannot predict his hand strength when you have no idea what TFG will doblueforyou wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 2:50 pm And, yes: Dyche is holding a good hand - maybe not the ace, but a strong hand

Re: Dyche
Frank did, and he still managed to sign a world class No.10American Evertonian wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 5:21 pm disagree with you there. It would mean he is definitely in a job until Jan 19 or 20th. If he is still in charge then we likely aren’t going to be making a change. Very few managers would want to take our gig without time to strengthen or without squad in the relegation zone which we likely would be if we lose our next 3 PL matches.

Benitez lasted until 16th January; Lampard, 23rd
Dyche has a strong hand because he has nothing to lose with dismissal

Don't want to open the Moshiri can of worms in this thread, but yeah, he was steering the ship. Hopefully there is more logic and commitment to run the club properly from the new owners.blueforyou wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 5:41 pm Benitez lasted until 16th January; Lampard, 23rd

Re: Dyche
Dyche doesn't have a strong hand at all.
He's basically had no boss for ages. Now he's got proper oversight. You can hear that in his interviews since TFG came in. He's changed tone quite significantly.
He's gone from ''I'm basically keeping this club afloat on my own, you should be endlessly grateful'' type bluster to ''we'll see what the new owners want, and I'm not sure what the plans are'' uncertainty.
Also, he's probably already thinking about his next job, and wondering whether he's done enough to convince anyone in the Prem that he's still relevant as a manager.
Once he's left here, we'll see a series of interviews about how insanely difficult keeping Everton in the Prem was, how wild things were behind the scenes and how ''proper football men'' think he's done an amazing job. There'll also probably be some hints that the Everton fanbase is ungrateful and entitled, and they should thank him for the gruel that he served up.

Re: Dyche
You said it!
Kept us up against the odds for two seasons in succession and if dismissed, on the balance of probabilities, would have kept us up again, this season
It's only a lose for him if he stays on and we are relegated...!
Plus, financially, he's quids in - on all counts!!

Re: Dyche
Nicked from the article on the Moshiri thread, but it doesn't sound like they're getting rid of Dyche in a hurry. https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/ever ... rticle-top
Sources have reaffirmed to The i Paper that there are no plans for a managerial change, with all the upheaval that would usher in, and that there is backing for Sean Dyche as he moves into the final months of his contract.
While there is enthusiasm in some quarters of the fanbase for a change – Everton’s last win was on December 4 and they are just two points clear of 17th-placed Ipswich – there is a measure of practicality about the new owners’ stance.
A managerial search would be difficult to carry out in the midst of so much change at the club and in Everton’s situation, a candidate with a track record of keeping clubs in the top flight like Dyche would probably stand out.
The summer – with so many players due to be out of contract – feels more like the time for a thorough review of the club’s football direction.

Re: Dyche
The last thing TFG want is relegation. Even coming back up will be hard with the impact that would have on us, commercially and financially. We have to stay up and move into our future a prem club
Re: Dyche
He either gets enough points to stay in the job, which means an upturn, or he fluffs his lines and is replaced.
As it stands we're under a point a game but within touching distance. That has to turn around sharpish. If it doesn't I trust he is replaced before the end of Jan.

Re: Dyche
That doesn’t make it strong. It doesn’t matter to him whether we stay up or down. He has likely built up enough credit in the bank to get another PL job.blueforyou wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 5:41 pm Benitez lasted until 16th January; Lampard, 23rd

Re: Dyche
What he did in one season has no bearing on what he will or won’t do the following season. Teams change and so do players in those teams. Saying he will keep us up because he did last you is exactly what Burnley supporters were saying until they had to sack himblueforyou wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 6:08 pm You said it!

Re: Dyche
So, to summarise the last 150 pages: he’ll either go or he won’t.
We’ve lived this; day-in, day-out, for so long, we’re desperate for decisive, tangible change.
Meanwhile, TFG are looking at paint samples for their offices at BMD. I don’t expect to hear from them much until they get their feet well under the table.
