Good to see the club taking a stance on this and turning it into a positive. Not that foodbanks are a positive but it might make fans think twice, especially at this time of year.
Everton scoreboard responded to poverty chanting in Chelsea game with foodbank advert - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67682536
Every time away fans chant 'feed the scousers' etc they put a message on the scoreboard about foodbanks.
Poverty Chanting
Re: Poverty Chanting
Agree, it's a great idea.
And while this might sound cynical but what with all the negative media frenzy around us, anything to shame the gleeful tabloid shitrags into shutting up is welcome.
It's not just that though, our community programmes are the one thing we could always be unequivocally be proud about, even in the darkest times on the pitch.

So many fans stuck in the 80s when it comes to perceptions of this city. Did Harry Enfield really have that much of an impact back then?
Re: Poverty Chanting
yes he did ! The calm down Calm down "catchphrase" still goes on and waving money about "loadsa money" believ it or not i had that about 2 weeks ago in a bar in a golf club.
The saddest thing was he did all of them sketches with Paul McGann a scouser who obviously needed the work at the time.

I recall the Spurs game at Goodison when Sharp scored that worldie.. a flash cockney was holding up a 20 like a scarf. Saw the same guy sparked outside and definitely minus what he had.4evablu wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2023 10:24 am yes he did !
