Next Everton Manager
Re: Next Everton Manager
Doesn't seem like they've much of a plan, you'd think if they knew they were getting rid of Dyche and wanted Moyes they'd have sounded him out by now.

To be fair, Moyes won a European trophy in his second stint at West Ham.Big Nevs Vaz wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 5:40 pm Most sequels are a bit disappointing (Godfather Part 2 not included).
Howard Kendall was a fairly good example of a disappointing return x 2.
I don't see Moyes (or even more so Mourinho) as progressive appointments.
If it is Moyes it's all a bit short sighted, uninspiring and not a great start for TFG.
Recruitment-wise, he's brought in plenty of game players over the last few seasons, Kudus being the most notable to me.

Home alone 2 and hangover 2 were good but most sequels are a let down hopefully moyes is only until the summer can’t wait for the he knows the city and the people shite to start

Let's not forget Kudos put in a transfer request and went on strike to join us before West Ham even showered an interestAllyBlue14 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 5:57 pm To be fair, Moyes won a European trophy in his second stint at West Ham.

Clearly more has gone on behind the scenes than the information currently out there would have us believe.
This isn't FG's first rodeo.

Sad that it looks like Moyes.
Liverpool fans on my socials saying 'who do they realistically think they'll get?? Lol'
Want to punch them.

If there is a massive, sudden improvement in the players, beyond any new system etc, I’ll be a bit pissed off if it looks like they’ve been holding back and risking relegation. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll be pleased with the upturn, and I expect it, but I do wonder if some of it - even if caused by a toxic workplace - can be attributed to downing tools.
They’re a much better group than our league position, after all.

I don’t get going for Moyes, he has West Ham performing like a Dyche team in the last few years even with a better squad.
I get he got them a trophy, but if we’re sacking Dyche for being too negative then hiring Moyes doesn’t make sense

All fair points. Weren't we in for Kudus as well but couldn't pony up the cash?AllyBlue14 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 5:57 pm To be fair, Moyes won a European trophy in his second stint at West Ham.

Moyes was a very good manager for us but its a long time ago and I would prefer if we were looking forward a bit more with our new owners at the helm.

I think we'll just find out they really are a bit shite
Re: Next Everton Manager
Let's get this straight, Moyes is a million miles ahead of Dyche and his achievements in the game is something the latter can only dream of. They're not the same.

Re: Next Everton Manager
Agreed. I just remember being annoyed on behalf of Chelsea fans that time their players downed tools and then started playing again when they got a new manager. That was not all down to the systems etc.Audrey Horne wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 6:04 pm A new system and tactics will be a huge improvement though?
I’d be furious if I was a season ticket holder paying to go see that.
But either way I will be happy to see an upturn. I guess I should just count my blessings he’s gone?

Re: Next Everton Manager
It sounds like they weren't particularly planning to fire him in the last 24 hours (which accounts for the unusual timing), but his response to any sort of questioning was so defensive and substandard that they've felt ''we need to get him out of here immediately''. That might be why the replacement isn't fully lined up yet.
