After. So people didn't want him to see the season out did they. They wanted him gone before the first game of the season.

Do you think people's view of him might have softened had he not racked up a club record streak of winless games777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 11:07 pm After. So people didn't want him to see the season out did they. They wanted him gone before the first game of the season.
Re: Next Everton Manager
Moyes with Carsley to work with him and eventually succeed him sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Re: Next Everton Manager
Are we talking about last season?? Thought as a whole we did well. 48 points given the circumstances was pretty decent. Ended the season I'm really decent form
People still wanted rid of him before a ball was kicked this season though. Now people are allowed any opinion they like. They aren't allowed to rewrite history and say if they were confident he'd keep us up they'd have wanted him to see the season out.
But yes if he'd won 3 or 4 we drew in that run got another 8 points and finished 7th or 8th without deductions he might have gotten a bit longer before the calls for him to be sacked

Re: Next Everton Manager
The run wouldn’t look so bad with a couple of wins in it. I feel like I’ve heard that line before.

For example, I haven't seen a single piece of dyche out graffiti, not a banner, not a song despite the fact he's got a lower ppg than Benitez and Lampard.
Yes, preconceived ideas of Sean Dyche exist. In fact, some of them are part of the reason he got the job, and some of them are part of the reason he will get positive PR from pros on the media following his sacking.
Yes, I think had he won more games the calls for him to be sacked would have been infinitely fewer, and the idea a few on here didn't like him regardless of his performance last year is a really odd lifeboat to cling to. Had he won more games we'd have been discussing his absolutely disgusting, regressive, backwards football on here still for sure, but the calls for him to go would have been a minority to say the least.

Re: Next Everton Manager
As romantic of an idea it is bringing Moyes back to Goodison, it would only have the chance of working in the short term.
Moyes would probably not accept a short-term contract and be an Allardyce 2.0 which means we could be stucked with a 61 year old pragmatic coach that has little chance of building this club to new heights.
Problem is that a long-term candidate, a progressive young manager with new ideas may have problems implementing them to a squad that haven't made a scoring chance through open play in ages.
So looking to Moyes makes a whole lot of sense but it for sure will not make Everton great again.
This club has to stop being romantic and looking behind its shoulders getting nostalgic and actually believe we will find the solution in our past. Howard Kendall had no chance to replicate his success because football had evolved. Moyes has no chance today as football has evolved.
Reason behind Everton's struggles is because we have never evolved with the game. We've been romantic. We've been old fashioned. In the years after Kendalls glory days football changed heavily and we didn't change with it. I remember David Moyes coming into the club young and fresh with new ideas but his ideas is old today.
Stuttgart in Germany is like Everton in England. A big club with a proud history and horrible results in later years UNTIL - Sebastian Hoeneß came along. He took over as Stuttgart was in a similar position and he made them overachieve by a mile last season. There is a lot of similarities and I for sure would rather hope for such an appointment than the romantic David Moyes signing.

You are stating the obvious. No manager would ever be sacked if they just won enough games not to be sacked.
Of course he deserved the sack. Felt like we'd regressed to where we were under lampard and benitez. I do also think he deserves a lot of credit for the 2 seasons prior and that perhaps he's not a cunt. Now if any of that means I'm not taking it well then I'm not taking it well

Re: Next Everton Manager
Moyes with these players,
and Carsley with his inside knowledge and specialist picks of upcoming english youth starlets, over the next few transfer windows.
Succession planning.
Re: Next Everton Manager
Reports saying we’re in talks with Moyes but he’s not the only candidate and others are in the running. Wonder who the others are?
Re: Next Everton Manager
Rumours of the others are:
Davide Moyez
Davido Moysini
Davidek Moyesic
Davið Moyesson
Davidus Moyesacus

its painful listening to the nonsense from ex pros in the media chatting shit about how they cant believe hes gone and he was the right guy etc, its even the case that he himself told the TFG he couldnt take the club forward any more, so not even he thought he was going to keep us up
Re: Next Everton Manager
and I should just add he did a great job last season, no two ways about it, but thats gone and he was out on his feetfxceltic wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 10:34 am exactly this
