On one side it's easy to say that it is easier to replace Klopp at Liverpool than Dyche at Everton, but still it was impossible for United to replace Ferguson...

I think Liverpool succeeded because they had a scientific approach to the replacement while United had a romantic one. I would just have loved to see our new owners force our club to have a scientific approach to recruiting for once.
Their “scientific approach” was greatly assisted by the fact that Klopp gave them five months notice of his intention to leave before they hired third choice Slot.

It’s irrelevant.

The game has completely changed since he was last in charge here.

Here’s his West Ham one. It’s far from great.

That’s if he made the signings of course.

It's all relative. Doesn't matter how the game has changed, the concept of identifying players to fit/improve your system remains.

It's only the systems themselves that become dated.

I think the club just wanted the Moyes signing done and confirmed as soon as possible to reassure the fans and show their decisiveness without all of the bells and whistles from the announcement.

Not sure if Moyes was even at Finch Farm or in Liverpool during the negotiations so no photoshoot or video interview would have been produced.

We haven’t heard yet who his coaching team is going to yet so I wouldn’t be surprised if all those details and contracts are still being ironed out before Moyes starts his work at Finch Farm.

I thought Irvine would be well retired. He looked about 70 when he was here in 2005

Having Baines in his backroom set up makes absolutely sense. A bit of a promotion for LB, whilst also providing first hand knowledge of rhe up and coming talent at the club. He's been working with them every day and will know which ones are ready to go out on loan for the next step of their development and which ones are not going to make the grade.

If we are looking at being competitive in the medium term, we need a structure in place that allows the kids to develop and have a genuine opportunity to make it if they have the talent to do so.

It's been a while since we've seen one of our own come through the system and really shine. Instead we've tried shelling out for "oven ready" solutions, which is not sustainable, given the restrictions of PSR. We need to be able to either bring the kids through and into the first team, via a couple of decent loan spells, or be in a position to sell them on at a decent premium to give us a little more spending power. The shite seem to get stupid money for their academy cast-offs and we need to be going down that route too.

Can’t find an announcement anywhere, if it’s in the Daily Fail then probably just speculation.

Hope it doesn't mean Baines misses out on managing the u18s at Bramley Moore.
