He’s just scored four games in a row and went a long way to securing our safety.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 9:41 pm Missed THREE one on one chances, DCL would be getting absolutely rinsed on here if it'd been him.
Scored goals recently but tonight showed regardless of his recent form he's still not a player we can rely on long term.
I've about turned once again on him, maybe not for the last time.

Re: Beto
Just what Beto's performances are like, he's deadly for a few matches then misses three fucking one on ones... It's mind boggling.howard1334 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 9:44 pm Maybe, just maybe you should stop oscillating between extremes and try to express nuanced, reasonable views
Would be happy to not have to sit through his games like this though that's for sure next season. Just can't be relied on, but if he bags 5 in the next 5 it won't exactly be easy to not start believing he's actually decent.
Re: Beto
Yep but doesn't mean he gets off scott free for missing 3 one on ones in a match. I get everyone wants him to do well but he's still massively erratic and that won't change. Do we just ignore him missing multiple gilt edged chances in a match?
Gets the praise rightfully for scoring goals, should get criticised if he misses them.
Will forever be thankful for his goals recently, but can't be starting him next season.
Re: Beto
The expectations in here are unreal.
There's no appreciation for the fact it's his athleticism and determination that gets him into these chances. You want a striker with those attributes and scores more than Beto has been? That's elite level players you're looking at there and we're no way near being in that market.
Look at all the other teams in the bottom half and who they've got to front. Beto is showing that he's perfectly fine for where we are and will be for a while.

Re: Beto
I reckon if you’re a scout you see what he did to get that third chance and say yeah I’m signing him.
Unbelievable pace and power. It was a 70/30 ball in the defenders favour and he’s come out of it one on one with the keeper.
Dom just doesn’t have that type of thing in him.

Re: Beto
Not expecting him to continue with his goals per game ratio, but that's also the problem because if he's not actually a finisher then it takes away the one thing that might keep him as a valid option for our starting striker next season.Goaljira wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 10:13 pm The expectations in here are unreal.

I don't expect him to be a goal a game player, but I also don't expect him to miss 3 one on one chances either.
Same issues with Beto will always be there, they don't go away, erratic and probably not actually good enough for next season despite what a purple patch suggested.
As I said though I'm happy to have my opinion changed again, but tonight I'm very frustrated with a very frustrating player.
Re: Beto
Who are you realistically seeing as someone we could a) afford and b) would want to come here that would meet your criteria?AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 10:18 pm Not expecting him to continue with his goals per game ratio, but that's also the problem because if he's not actually a finisher then it takes away the one thing that might keep him as a valid option for our starting striker next season.

3 chances tonight and none came off. He'll get chances against Wolves and they might. This is the difference now - we're creating multiple chances per game for him because of the way *he* is allowing us to play.
Re: Beto
Let's be honest with each other, you are revelling in him missing them a bit though because it helps you win the argument you are having.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 10:18 pm Not expecting him to continue with his goals per game ratio, but that's also the problem because if he's not actually a finisher then it takes away the one thing that might keep him as a valid option for our starting striker next season.

Talking about the lad like he's been here for years like Calvert Lewin. He's not a known quantity for us so he deserves some slack to see if he's good enough
Beto
Puts one of the three in nobody remembers the other two. Didn’t go his way today, but credit where’s it’s due he’s getting into the positions to get these chances. Would DCL? What Moyes has done with him in six weeks in great and he’ll get better the more time Moyes works with him
