Tarks red card - ❌
Diaz offside - ✔️ apparently onside because the laws are fucking dumb and nonsensical
Beto offside - 🤷 because they didn't bother to show us the lines, which doesn't seem suspicious at all 🤔

Another great performance by VAR, can't understand why anyone ever questions their ability or integrity!

They never show lines now anyway do they? Either way, you can't have Beto's down as dodgy, you could clearly see from the overhead shot that he was off.

I'd rather he was sent off and the winning goal was chalked off tbh.

Tarks is a red all day.

Beto was offside.

The rules probably do say their goal should have stood but diaz is five yards offside and gets the assist ffs.

I agree 100% if it ended 0-0 and we got a point.

10 men from 20 mins in that game though and I reckon it’s more likely we lose 4-0+

Yeah it’s one of them: technically correct but it fucking stings and feels wrong.

Literally every offside I've ever seen this season and in previous since VAR came in has had the lines drawn on.

Was tight, probably offside but even if there's a possibility of it being on even if that possibility is small they need to show the damn lines.

No gripe with the beto offside, he was clearly off.
We were never going to get an offside on the goal, though i do wonder what would have happened if it was the other way round.
But the non red card for tarks is unbelievable.
I'm old school and remember way back that if you got the ball anything after didn't matter.
But that's not the rules now, he knew exactly what he was doing, it was a stonewall red.
Another pathetic call of var

I mean those lines from the handbook can't be everything from the offside section surely.

Zoning in on that is not what we should be doing, yeah he's just standing still, but the pass was aimed at him, he wasn't an extra body behind the line for a pass played to a team mate of his, and Tarkowski stretches to stop the pass, then is on the floor for the one two.

What about all the goals disallowed because of a player standing offside in front of the keepers' eyeline? On the basis of those bullet points they should be allowed to stand.

Awful decision and absolutely nothing about it on the Sky Sports app, Moyes had it spot on when the interviewer last night blended the offside topic by swiftly moving on to the red card and he pulled her on it.

I've just remembered something about this offside rule, and I less I'm mistaken had Tarks gone to clear the ball and missed it then Diaz still wouldn't have been offside as Tarks tried to play the ball... I'm sure that's right as remembered this happening to an Italian team in the Champions League.

It's bloody ridiculous, you're interfering with play by being in an offside position trying to receive a pass and directly influencing a defender's action as a result... Just another example in a long list of examples of rules that are ill thought out and poorly implemented.

You don't need to draw lines when someone is a mile offside. It wasn't even close.

I agree.

It’s the fact he get right back into position to make the assist on the goal that does it for me. I’m sure if you’re offside then you just have to stand out the way, he just gets right back into the game and sets up the goal ffs.

Think you can tell by slots comments after the game that he initially thought it was offside as well.

Just a poorly officiated game all round. I’d never even heard of that ref before. Why’s he getting the derby which is the most difficult game in the league to officiate.

If that's genuinely the rule now it's second only in stupidness to the fact that we aren't 100% sure if that's even the rule now

It's fine changing the rules to benefit attackers but it's not fine to make the rules unplayable for defenders
