Why didn’t we just leave the lad at Southampton until Xmas. At least he would be getting minutes in. Moyes clearly doesn’t fancy him so what’s the point in him probably becoming disheartened around Finch Farm.

I thought he was removed from first team training when we started bidding for him and Southampton fans were quite happy to see him sold and questioned his mentality and commitment to Southampton.

So it probably wouldn’t have been a good environment to keep him there on loan. However, he could still go out on loan to another Championship team in January, maybe Preston to join with Armstrong if he is likely to get regular playing time there

We've tried to run before we can walk, buying expensive youth projects while not having a decent first team is just terrible recruitment.

We've spent over £70 million on Barry and Dibling, we could have bought an established striker and a right back for that.

I don't mind buying him, the opportunity was there so we took it, there's nothing wrong with buying longer term prospects as well as players who are going to play straight away. The problem with Dibling is we should either be giving him more minutes to develop or sent him out on loan as soon as we signed him. Moyes isn't known for trusting youngsters so a season of hanging around the fringes isn't going to do him any good and it'll only be a matter of time before his head drops. We've got form for this kind of thing and although Armstrong has a good loan and it doesn't seem to have changed much under a new regime so far.

He'll play lots when AFCON is on, Moyes even said himself new players don't play much the first 6 months if they're young and inexperienced or need time to adapt.

It's tough for him right now as our two main creative outlets play out wide, but as the season progresses injuries and international commitments will give him opportunities.

Think people just need to accept that when you buy high potential youth that are willing to come to us you aren't going to reap the benefits for a couple of years.

Russell Martin (I know) said he saw Dibling more as an 8 or false 9

Dunno if 'sometimes play' or 'look anywhere near the standard of the league' or 'look to be the type of player we actually needed' or 'fit the system' are rewards you should have to wait all that long for imo.

As above, presumably he will get starts when the ANC kicks off ?

I thought he was a good buy myself and disapointed he hasn't featured much yet, also assume his position in the pecking order etc would of formed part of personal negotiations with his people before he committed to Everton ?

Isn’t that the crux of the issue though, our manager doesn’t like playing young players when they first arrive at the club.
So when we sign 3 young promising players for the best part of £60m we know they aren’t going to contribute much in a first 11 that’s crying out for 2-3 new players who are first team ready.

The whole summer recruitment made no sense.

It's one thing to say be patient, he'll kick on in a few years, but at this moment he can't contribute whatsoever to a dog shit team, and doesn't seem to actually fit any of the positions of need.

Another panic buy from an unprepared club who couldn't find their own arse with two hands Imo.

I think we are seeing the disconnect between a hastily cobbled together transfer committee, trying to get mainly young, potentially high ceiling players in, misaligned with a safe pair of hands old school manager who has a history of not blooding youth too readily.
