Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Be great to get him to sign a new deal , only 23 this month and hopefully gets in the German Southgate squads for the WC /etc .
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Would always rather have good players than not, just a slight air of inevitability about it isn't there.Cods wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 7:18 am Yes, agree to an extent.
Just think we're better with him than without him at the moment.
We've been down the route of big sales for big players, Rom, Stones and Rooney come to mind, but have not really improved the squad to any great extent with that cash. We've not really rebuilt, and have paid well above the odds for largely inferior replacements (even excepting the squandered 'Moshiri years').
I think a star player like Branthwaite actually brings out the best of others around him, granted its tougher since we've been depleted of almost all our last remaining quality, I just think if we keep him, and sign another marquee player, then we start to look like we're positioning ourselves differently.
Keeping him for the next two years would be amazing IMO but how likely that is I'm not sure.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Pete saying on Toffee TV that Moyes has put his foot down and big JB is going nowhere this summer.
Think this type of thing is also good to put out there for potential new signings.

If there's one thing ambitious young footballers want it's the feeling of being trapped at relegation strugglers against their will!
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Doesn't really matter if Moyes wants him to stay or not, if a bid of £70m+ comes in Jarrad will be gone.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Moyes is right, it's no good stinking the joint out, right away in our new home.
The only way we have a real "consolidate our gains" season is with JB leading the way.
I feel exactly the same about Pickford. Yes, inevitably, everyone is replaced. Just not right yet.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
We have to be willing to sell if our price is matched and they want to leave. We can't sell ourselves to top young talent if we hold them here when we can't compete
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
For later, not now... but
Slap 100m on him.
Let's see if those top clubs really want him, or if they're just after him on the cheap.
That's what he's worth to us. We don't generate many diamonds.
PSG, Inter, Arsenal, Barcelona all earned that in this year's CL alone. More than 20 clubs earned more than half that, many significantly more than half, most of whom were in it the year(s) prior and will be again next time around.
Looking at the top dozen or so young defenders on transfermarkt.com. Take an average of the immediate increase to their listed value (prior to purchase by a top club, and then immediately post-purchase). It's around an 100% increase, often much more.
I think we should realise that increase to asset value and factor it into the price.
They currently value Branthwaite at 50m. So surely 100m is fair.

You stink the gaff out if you drag a hostage over to BMD, if £70m is on the table and he wants to go then he will be gone.Evertonian in NC wrote: ↑Wed Jun 04, 2025 4:48 pm Moyes is right, it's no good stinking the joint out, right away in our new home.
