At that price, I can see there being a few possible takers. The likes of City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, even Newcastle wouldn't flinch at that price if they want him badly enough. He's young, English, already looking very good and has a massive ceiling, so £75m is not an outrageous fee, especially when you consider that investment could sort your left sided centre half position for the next 10 years plus.eyesalwaysblue wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 5:48 pm Being said we've put a 75 million tag on the glorious lad.

All good points, just have to hope the lad is enjoying himself enough for him to stay another season or two to see what happens, time is on his side.74Blue wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 6:36 pm At that price, I can see there being a few possible takers. Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
I feel like he's valued here by both players and fans, and he's guaranteed to start every week, and now we seemed to have turned the corner, it's a good environment for him to learn and mature in. Less pressure, lower expectations, a system that doesn't ask him to do anything he can't do, there's lots of positive reasons for him to stay.
But he'll look at other young players going to big clubs for big fees and becoming legends, and he might fancy taking that leap with all the attached risks.

Also depends on who comes in. If Chelsea or Man U come in, you maybe go 'nah, I'll hold fire for now and wait for a club with a semblance of an identity and an idea', and if Pep comes a-calling you probably have to go.

Until he realises that the epl’s subtle campaign of trying to make the city of Liverpool a one horse town and hand them a few league titles is in full swingBluedylan1 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 9:06 pm Also depends on who comes in. Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
If you look at the facts, there is no way he is leaving for less than a world record fee for a defender. Maguire at £80m and Gvardiol at £77m are the benchmarks.
1. He has a 5 year contract. The club are in full control.
2. Jarrad is starting every game and enjoys playing here.
3. He has absolutely everything in terms of ability and in terms of physical attributes. He is also calm and composed, and his reading of the game will only get better.
4. We know that his ceiling is about as high as you will ever see for a defender. Why would it not be at least as as high as Gvardiols? It’s certainly higher than Maguires. He broadly the same age at Gvardiol, and only has a few dozen more appearances.
5. Jarrad is also English which counts for quite a bit in terms of value. Please see the Jack Grealish transfer for more details.
6. And if there was another reason, Everton really really need him. Probably more than any other player on the pitch. He has helped to transform our team and has made us better.
So maybe he won’t be the first £100m defender, but he will come close.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
We desperately need player sales, though, and every other club knows that.
No way are we in a particularly strong position here.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
He'll be sold for what ever the market rate is when he finally goes, wherever that will be, I'm not arsed.
I'm the bitter type who falls out of love with our players once they've left us.
I think a major factor in his value which needs to be accounted for is he's a leftie CB, that should put a few million quid on him

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Just don't even contemplate selling for at least another full season. We've progressed as a team since he's been in it. Same progression for the rest of the season and next and we're into the new stadium and who wouldn't want to play in that? Hopefully he will.
After that if he's still as good as he seems to be, in the england set up, we'll still get a pretty penny for him but more importantly be in a better position hopefully that we don't have to sell.
