Extremely harsh on Jelavic imo

Re: Beto
Headless chicken, if you can't play to his one and only strength then he is not worth having on the pitch.
Re: Beto
The weird thing is that towards the end of last season his hold up play had come on leaps and bounds. Was a very weird regression last night and also in the pre-season games.
Looked like a player knowing he's out the door, but also Moyes started him so despite a couple of rumours going round the evidence would suggest otherwise.

Re: Beto
Donkey. Not sure how we can carry a player who throws in plenty of 0 out of 10s. Especially when the moron in the dugout just leaves him on the pitch

Re: Beto
I’m usually defensive of Beto criticism but he did absolutely nothing last night. He can have no complaints if Barry starts on Sunday
Seemed to have no fight in him at all last night which is unusual

Re: Beto
He was crap last night, and I’m a fan, however we know he objectively bad when we are just punting it up there. If we were going to do that as the plan, and it very much seemed like it was, Moyes should have picked Barry who is miles better in the air and in doing that role.
If we are picking Beto, and I think we should, we should never set up to play the way we did. Which is, in any case, a terrible strategy to go with.
Pick him and play a side and tactics that play to his strengths ffs. Same goes for Grealish, pointless bringing him on if you aren’t going to play a way that suits, not least because there’s a synergy between playing to his strengths and Betos, get the ball to his feet and he will play in Beto

Re: Beto
Yeah I also like Beto but he wasn't interested last night, maybe he does know he's on the way out, there have been rumours all summer. He wasn't exactly helped by the quality of service, which was fuck all, but didn't seem like his heart was in it. Strange to see as the one thing we always see is him at least putting himself about.
Re: Beto
Don't know if Moyes digging him out and saying he was "disappointed" during pre season has had the opposite effect of what he'd hoped for but he looked very out of sorts last not. But, lumping it up and hoping for him to win flick ons or hold the ball up aren't his style, we had this with DCL in the past, there's no point knocking it up to him if there's no support or anyone to flick it in to. Yes his control isn't always great but he was very isolated at times and you can see why a player's head would drop quickly when he's chasing shadows off the ball and getting the ball lumped at him on the odd time we actually got it forward.

Re: Beto
If Barry's introduction is to lump it at him the way we did to Beto last night Barry will soon be disillusioned.

Re: Beto
Beto is an absolutely awful target man he didn't even hold up or flick on the 1st where there was no one really challenging him

Re: Beto
I said at the time, its pretty obviously the wrong thing to say. Singling him out and saying it live on sky sports is bullshit. No need.Gash wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 7:56 am Don't know if Moyes digging him out and saying he was "disappointed" during pre season has had the opposite effect of what he'd hoped for but he looked very out of sorts last not.
