Yeah, but in defence of those who are grammatically challenged on here, they tend to call those two Myko and DCLBluedylan1 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 5:34 pm It's only 4 syllables like Mykolenko or Calvert-Lewin.
I-roe-boo-nam.

I’ve heard a multitude of different ways of pronouncing it already.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 5:34 pm It's only 4 syllables like Mykolenko or Calvert-Lewin.
I-roe-boo-nam.
I’ll be sticking with Tim.
Could possibly make a good rendition of the muppets Mahna Mahna song though, depending on its actual pronounciation.

You don't need to guess at the pronunciation.

But this year's revenue (ending at the end of the month) is inflated by £10m for us both whilst our outgoings are only increased by £3.33 million due to the way you spread purchases over the length of a contract.
So both us and Villa have spent zero pounds but created a £6.66m PSR uplift.
It won't last forever, as we're also down by £3.33m for the next 2 years as well - but the rules are expected to change by then to a wage-based system
We’re buying players on tick?

Jeez. If you were about in the 80's it must have been hell for you. The Rat, Psycho Pat, The Mask, Inchy and Tricky... they're just nick names with no ill intent.

Yea, nicknames. As players still have today. Not some fella on the internet saying "I'm calling him so and so because foreign words are hard".Paddockoldie wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 8:04 pm Jeez. Nicknames are endearing, being ignorant is not.

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
Some people really do struggle with multi-syllabic words. I’m not excusing ignorance. I have a dyslexic friend who struggles with foreign names and places and it comes from lack of familiarity. He gets by with a lot of stuff by ear so if he hears it he gets familiar with how to say it, but if it’s written down, unless he’s familiar and recognises the shape of it, he’s fucked for pronouncing it. I’m sure it will help people to get better saying it the more they hear it (if he plays).
There’s two sides to this.

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
It’s not ignorance, I know how to pronounce his name now someone posted that video, but I’ll still be calling him Tim or another shorter name that gets widely adopted because I’d rather not be typing that surname out every time in a fucking forum.
People type Myko not because they can’t spell Mykolenko, but because it’s quicker, shortening happens with everything in written form as well as verbally - I reckon most people in the stadium will be shouting Tim as well.
Bluedylan very kindly did a break down of his version of saying the surname when I said there were a multitude of different ways I’d heard it, then when you heard the name from Tim’s mouth it proved my point as Bluedylans breakdown was also wrong.
TLDR I’ll call Tim whatever the fuck I want, thanks.
Re: Tim Iroegbunam
It’s a hard name to spell and a hard name to pronounce, especially in the heat of a game.
It’s also kinda a scouse thing to shorten a persons name or give them a nickname.
It’s fine.
