Will never really understand the stick he gets. Been an absolute warrior for us through the bleakest of times, doing a completely thankless task and putting his physical wellbeing and career on the line for much of it, while being regularly insulted for not being toxically masculine enough.

It's probably the sense of never ending saga, whether he wants to go or not , many feel he would have been away yonks ago if things had panned out the way he wanted, he has undoubted talent has been unlucky with injuries, don't think anyone cares about masculinity if they are of sound mind, then there is the question if he is surplus to requirements now we have new ambitious owners, obviously that goes for a big lump of the squad.

You can understand fans being cynical, he's made no noises at all about wanting to stay until now. Maybe it is the Moyes factor, maybe it is the stadium but it does also feel like it's very much that no one at a level above us has come in for him, other than the link to Newcastle there hasn't been anything and he could have signed for someone abroad by now if there was interest.

Maybe realising that the likes of Leeds or Burnley were going to be his best offers he's decided he might be better saving face and staying here. Thing is he's a bit like Barkley at this stage, he's past the age where he's going to improve beyond what he shows which means he's a good player but he's not great. But because he's been the next big thing for ages he expects game time which is understandable, just don't think he deserves to be getting that next year here

If we had a Callum Wilson standard forward we would have been far higher in the league these last few years

He's out for a last big (ish) contract, he's 28 not 32 or some such. He'll go somewhere where we gets a 3-4 year deal.
