Peak Rom might have been prolific.

Thought he was ok today, did some good stuff but I felt we missed DCL up there. Hard job battling on your own in this team but DCL has more to give in that role than Broja imo. Wouldn't be against giving him another start next game though and see how he gets on.

Would rather see him on the right which it felt like is where he did the damage at Southampton in the only decent run of his career. Never going to happen given he wouldn't provide the defensive requirements needed for that position in this side.

Patto as wing back and Broja as advanced winger/striker, with the left side more defensive with Myko slotting into centre back and McNeil or Harrison as the other wing back.

......... Tarkowski Brathwaite Myko......
Patto................... Gana...............McNeil
... v... Mangala.............Doucouré...v......

No Ndiaye? I think I’d like to try O Brian on the right of a back three in place of Mykolenko.

You can't have Tarks as RCB and you can't drop Ndaiye... This imo is what would be the best usage of this group:

......... O'Brien..Tarkowski..Branthwaite

Patto............ Gana....Mangala...........McNeil

............. Lindstrom................Ndaiye

.............…................DCL..................

3-4-2-1 with Lindstrom and Ndaiye as duel 10s. Whichever manager is available who's half decent and plays this formation needs to be top of our hit list

I'd rather have Keane back in there than o'brien based on what I saw in the preseason and his limited international minutes.

3-4-2-1 isn't a formation that's even developed in the manuals Dyche is working from

But you can't drop Broja in the Broja thread, that was Shogs' proposition; how is Broja accommodated in this side.

If it was '3421, pick your best team' (which I agree would better suit our players) then I'd go something similar to what you have.

The idea was that the left side are more defensive minded, where the right are more attacking (to accommodate Broja's minimal need to defend, and Myko better at being more central, than wide).

In possession it's almost a 352/442 in attack. You know, like a fancy Pep, but even more genious...

Haha good point, I hadn't realised I was replying in the Broja thread 🤣

In that case I'll advocate for my absolutely unstoppable FM24 formation of:

Patterson...Tarks... Branthwaite...McNeil

-------------------Gana---Mangala

-----------Broja---Lindstrom---Ndaiye

----------------------------DCL

Patterson and McNeil as support full back on one side and attacking on the other.

Broja and Ndaiye as support strikers and Lindstrom as an advanced playmaker.

Relies heavily on the full backs providing most of the width and being quick and direct in attack.

Haha, I like it, but the xAC column is about to get heavily populated, from the wide areas.

sam of the south wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 10:44 am Been thinking that our weakest position is rb in a back 4, so going to 352 with wing-backs would allow us more flexibility, we could retain in form Mykolenko as a lcb, and we could get another forward into the mix

Pickford
Tarkowski Branthwaite Mykolenko
Harrison Garner Doucouré Onana McNeil
DCL Danjuma
Cods wrote: Wed Nov 15, 2023 2:11 am I'd also been thinking the same for a while now, and for the same reasons.

Whilst we've been doing well recently I'd also be a bit loathe to change winning formula, but on paper we could certainly use a 352 merging from/to a 3421 or our current 4411, as an option. Dyche has played multiple formations with us last season so it's not new.

It'd suit Myko better and wouldn't stop him making the runs from deep.
Allow Patterson to get into the team with more cover, as with his pace he can fly down the wings, generally a good crosser too.
Harrison has played as Attacking Mid, just behind the striker before, and him and Doucouré would be pressing machines just behind DCL, both have the legs to drop back when required.

Pickford
Tarkowski Branthwaite Mykolenko
Patterson Garner Onana McNeil
Harrison Doucouré
DCL

He apparently used it when we beat Villa 2-0 last year - Jarrod, Tarkowski and Keane at the back, and Danjuma and Harrison in behind Dom.

Just put Broja in place of Garner, tweak it a bit, and I think it has potential.

If a CB has pace, fullback is a good position to bring them into to get used to the speed and physicality of the league.
