New Everton Stadium at Bramley Moore Dock

Some observations good and bad.

The good;

The walk up to the ground from town on the dock road, with a load of blues is special. Really feels like you’re heading into a fortress with the ground peeking out the dock walls.

The view from the south stand is immense. Really is as steep as they say it is.

The south stand concourse is brilliant. Plenty of bars and food stations, incredible view into town, plenty of space to walk around.

Just the general setting of it is great.

The main positive for me is the sound. It really bounces off the walls and zcars sounded like something I’ve not heard before. With 52k in it’s going to sound amazing.

Now for the bad points;

Too much grey and too many divides around the ground. I wanted to be blow away when I came up the steps but I wasn’t because of just how much grey there is.

The divide between the lower and upper south is huge. Looks to be about 10ft and really takes away from that part of the ground. Still think it’s a massive shame how the south stand has turned out and today didn’t change my mind.

It’s an absolute nightmare getting out of. Everyone going towards the same exits, only one way out the ground, if you’re going towards the north of the city you spend 20 minutes having to come back on yourself because everyone is going one direction on the dock road. Unfortunately can see a lot of people leaving before the game ends because of how bad it is.

I went to go to Sandhills as I already had a train ticket and by the time I got there it was at full capacity. This is with only half the stadium being open. It really is a mess.

Luckily traffic isn’t too bad if you head towards bootle and county road ways to get the bus.

Not enough pubs around the ground but everywhere that could be open was and they all made a good effort. Just more stuff needs to be around the ground which would help make it easier for people to get away.

Overall mad experience. Don’t really know what to make of it all yet as it will be a completely different experience once we start playing proper games there.

Oh one more thing.

I got to lime street at 1pm and intended to get the soccerbus.

At 10 past the queue was massive and I got the impression by the time everyone was loaded on and driven to near the ground it would have not left much time.

I took an Uber from Lime st, due to road block could only get within ten minute walk.

Walked from Limey in about 30 mins. The acoustics are obscene and will be amazing in a big game. Getting out through the original dock wall is madness because they're only narrow and can't be widened due to heritage. We're gonna struggle getting tickets but glad we've seen it up close.

Getting away from the ground at full capacity is going to be a huge issue, particularly for night games. Took us forty mins to get to James St but that walk isn’t going to be one a lot take at night. Think they need a couple of big car parks in and around the Costco area

Agree with most everything else though, access and transport is a bit of a shit show. Met some disabled Blues who were furious with the logistics (council not club). I was pretty lucky, travelled from Aigburth to Moorfields and then walked up but I met others who waited best part of an hour to get in a train. The turnstiles also came in for some criticism, just a wee bit on the narrow side.

Inside was amazing, stunning view of the pitch from the North Stand and the whole ground feels like it leans into the pitch. A proper cathedral of football! Noise when full is going to be an out of body experience, can’t wait.

TBH, didn’t feel there was any more leg room in the upper North stand than in Upper Gwladys ? But the sensation of being
on top of the pitch is much greater, can’t wait to experience it wit a full house.

Yeah, was he the red headed no 7 ? Only one that showed real energy and desire, overall ball skills of that team sadly lacking, youth development a priority going forward !

Go the grand national, and you'll see this, train after train, after train.

What I will say is they need more train guards. I got on the 12:06 from Hunts Cross. By Aigburth the train was full and the driver was saying from the tannoy that he won't move until people move down and clear the doors.

Next stop, St Michael's, same thing happened. There was massive kickoffs off people start to police it themselves. Only the fact people where sober and a lot of the train was mediators, that a full scale scrap never happen.

So this is down to merseyrail that they need to improve.

During the game. The food is really nice, but bloody expensive.

After the game, expect massive gridlocks.

Other than that, it's an amazing stadium and getting a drink seems pretty quick.
