All with massive smiles, faces all lit up.

What a guy. Would love them to win it.
If he wins the WC maybe he'd think he's got one last unfinished job to go back to?

The Japanese anthem is the kind you'd hear in a theatre, not one to get you fired up before the footy like the Brasilian one. So on anthems alone it's 1-0 to the Brazilians for me.

The officiating has been far from perfect but I have really enjoyed players not just getting a freekick because they fall to the ground like Cunha there. Premier League would be much better if the same happened there.

Grealish might not enjoy it mind!

Matterface and Dixon are a genuine disgrace of a commentary pair. Joyless pricks.

Helps it's been fairly consistently applied too. Feels like the bar has gone up even if temporarily for this World Cup, after years and years of "there was contact" being deemed enough by pundits. Which in fairness, when a player is really running at speed it can be, but has been kinda bent over time to mean a tap or touch received by a player in any given situation is a foul.

The Mbappe non-penalty was a joke, but in general the sport would be better for it if the bar for contact was rebalanced a bit.

Lee Dixon is so utterly bad.

He has no enthusiasm for the game

Not sure I like the Goal Kick / Corner rule , it should work both ways

Get in Japan, Gabriel defending like VVD

He's even worse than Lawrenson was. You're being paid to watch football matches all around the world. Be grateful FFS!

Reminded me a bit of that Lothar Matteus goal. Lovely from Japan, they're so good to watch

Seriously. Sign us a couple of quality Japanese players. They'd be beloved by our fans.

He's like a modern version of Mark Lawrenson. Sounds like he'd rather be anywhere else
