Early shout for player of the year especially if KDB can't keep fit. He'll bath in Onana tears after each of our many victories. Also no doubt a better fullback than Patterson

We have to temper our expectations.

So I’m just predicting two ballon d’or’s in Tim’s future.

Think he's very eye catching and obviously wants to get involved, but based on how Onana played for us in CM, I don't think when it gets down to business dyche is going to want him roaming about or trying to dribble out his own half.

He'll either have to adapt to covering passing lanes and making sure he tracks his runners, or he'll be quietly binned off.

Nah it's not the end of the world, he's a young player and he's been brought in cheaply, largely for an FFP benefit, so like we only have any expectations because he has done well.

It's not his fault if we are light in CM, it's the bosses that are happy to let us sell £50m worth of CM and not really replace him.

Monchi and Emery are no mugs either, end of the day.

Is Monchi at Villa now then?

Been our best player consistently through pre-season and is well worth his starting spot. No harm in having some optimism about him.

Emery isn't a mug no. He was playing Iroegbunam in the team towards the end of the season in a team going for CL places.

Villa have got a lot of good players, and a lot of good CMs. So it's no bad reflection on Tim that they've decided to sell him, and it's turned out to be a much better deal for us than them.

One of the best DOFs in the world has sold him for £10m in ffp credit, he will be valued appropriately.

Monchi. The fella who got chased out of Roma as an abject failure who took them backwards?

Did a great job at his home club, where he was a fixture for 20 years plus, but yet to demonstrate that his skills can be transferred elsewhere.

He came back from the loan and played some games towards the end of the season.

Yeah okay no worries.

He was getting ten mins here and there for them, and they've binned him off for ffp credit. I'm sure he's amazing, looking forward to watching for many years.

Don't think anyone's suggesting he's going to be amazing, chief. Just that the initial performances in pre-season have been a pleasant surprise, and that's he's going to be around our first team as a useful contributor, whereas Dobbin will probably never play for Villa, meaning that we've clearly got the better of the deal.

Villa have got McGinn, Tielemans, Buendia, Rogers, Dendoncker, Ramsey, Kamara, Barkley, Barranchea, Onana all to play in midfield. There's no path there for him to play and work his way into the team.

Like you, I tend towards the cynical with Everton, but also there's no harm acknowledging the odd positive when it crops up.
