Ben Godfrey
Re: Ben Godfrey
A CB who can't head the ball or track a run, a full back who can't dribble, pass, or cross. Apparently a promising DM in his teens. An outstanding athlete with unbelievable recovery pace and aggression.
Would not be surprised if someone can get some change out of him, but we've had him around the place for long enough without finding the key.
If Sean Dyche can't teach you to head a ball then I dunno man, work on your step overs or something.

Re: Ben Godfrey
We can say he must have something all we want and maybe Atalanta gets more out of him but I can't imagine him getting any better here.
Has some good attributes but I'm not sure he's the right set of attributes to find a permanent position where he can excel.
Use the money to bring in a proper RB and probably still end up with a PSR profit. All around good deal and hope he does well there.

Re: Ben Godfrey
Atalanta play a 3-4-2-1 system, so I imagine he will be playing as the right centre back which is probably the only position he can play.

Re: Ben Godfrey
Shame that he couldn’t build on a decent first season at Everton when he ended up getting called up for England.
A move abroad will probably do him great and he is in his final year of his Everton contract so getting around £10m for him is probably the best we could hope for.

Re: Ben Godfrey
Best of luck Godders! You’re a nice guy who’s had a shitty time here and it’s time for a change.
Re: Ben Godfrey
We seem to be really on the ball this close season, early signings, finding ways around PSR, shipping out players we don't need instead of the usual loaning them out and paying most of their wages until they leave on a free... Genuinely getting excited about where we're heading right now!
Re: Ben Godfrey
Yeah, this hasn't happened like this for years. It is exciting, and let's hope we've had our bad times and can begin to enjoy some relative success. Personally I'd be happy with a mid-table position, some more enjoyable football, and a decent cup run (semi at least). Sorry this isn't to do with Ben Godfrey. Sorry to see him go, and really hope he does well in Bergamo. Lovely city, well jealous.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 10:30 am We seem to be really on the ball this close season, early signings, finding ways around PSR, shipping out players we don't need instead of the usual loaning them out and paying most of their wages until they leave on a free... Be cool or be cast out.
Re: Ben Godfrey
Looks well happy.
Gonna keep a close eye on how he progresses at Atalanta. Still feel there's a good player somewhere there.
Best of luck to him.
