Relegation
Re: Relegation
People don’t like the manager so now Patterson is being overrated because he isn’t getting picked.
He’s been here two years and not really showed anything.
Last game he started there was a lot of debate amongst our fans on the pods and social media asking if he was good enough to start.
Now he’s been out the team hand we’re not getting results he needs to be back in the team?
I’d probably want him to play instead of Godfrey, but Godfrey has done well since he came back in so why drop him?

Re: Relegation
Could easily say some people are so defensive of the manager that they're not willing to admit he might be wrong on players.
The last match he started was Wolves away in a back 5 where he wasn't at fault for any of the goals. Played at home against City where he had a decent game and the match before that was away to Spurs in a 1-2 defeat. Before that he played in the 2-0 away win at Burnley. At fault for none of the goals conceded in any of those matches.
Truth is that Dyche will always pick big grocks and old school players he 'trusts' over actual footballers. We all knew what was coming against Palace as soon as the line up was posted. He got it wrong and I don't know why that's so hard to accept. Just because someone says Patterson should play over Godfrey at home against Palace doesn't mean we think he's Cafu in the making.
The funny thing is that Godfrey has cost us far more goals over the last couple of seasons.

Played in the 2-1 loss to Luton (FA Cup) and was all at sea... Unless I'm getting the game wrong, but pretty sure that was his last start and he really didn't show anything at all to warrant starting the next matches.Shogun wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 1:43 pm Could easily say some people are so defensive of the manager that they're not willing to admit he might be wrong on players.

Obviously starting Young is a massive no go, but let's not confuse playing the wrong player at RW as playing the wrong player at RB.
Re: Relegation
He was no worse than anyone else in that Luton match. Everyone was abysmal. Although tbf I might have dosed off the performance was that bad.
I'm not even arguing for Patterson to be starting every week. Just pretty obvious he should have played at RB in that Palace match instead of the guy who can't kick a ball. Palace had basically zero threat without Eze and Olise.
Dyche got it wrong, hopefully he learns next time we have a winnable match at home.

Right yeah, obviously not saying that shit sides can't have good players, more that being an international doesn't mean your a good one.Paddockoldie wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 9:08 am Mmm... Southall, Ratcliffe, Hughes, Rush, Giggs and many more player internationally for shit teams. They were great players despite that. Obviously I'm not comparing him to these, but he can't help being Scottish

Re: Relegation
Where did I or anyone else say he was class? You're arguing with a point nobody made.Kerryblueboy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 12:33 pm Yeah fair play Godfrey is class alright wonder why our last 3 coaches didn’t play him he is rash and constantly out of position has great pace which for me is his only saving grace offers absolutely nothing going forward can’t cross a ball or overlap but sure dyche likes him so he is in the team

Re: Relegation
One point gained on Forest and Burnley, although tbh I would have rather Palace didn’t win as they looked like they could be dragged back into the scrap
Re: Relegation
Liverpool and Villa to get results on the road next week and a West Ham side that won't sit back and remove our only game plan at Goodison?
Next week is going to be a disaster or the start of our climb away I think.

Re: Relegation
I'm utterly in the pro-Dyche camp and disagree vigorously with any suggestions to sack him.
But the one thing that makes me think he is a short/medium term appointment at best is the fact he struggles at home against teams that don't come to attack.

Re: Relegation
Could this be the first time a team is relegated twice in one season?
Sometime in the future: "Burnley and Sheffield United have been relegated from the Premier League"
Conclusion of the 2nd charge: "The Premier League have handed Nottingham Forest and Everton a penalty of x points to be deducted immediately"
Conclusion of the 2nd charge: ""Burnley and Sheffield United are no longer relegated from the Premier League"
Probably not long after: "Burnley and Sheffield United have been relegated from the Premier League"
---
Not a great look for the Premier League, is it?
