He clearly knows his value if he’s not renewing with Palace.
There’s a chance he picks the wrong step up and is back on the market shortly thereafter and I think we’d a prime candidate then. But probably out of our league for now.
He probably does have a ceiling but we are miles away from having a squad that outstrips him.
Put another £100m in and see what he can do, hopefully have a DOF type figure who has an eye on the immediate and long term future, then move on as a stable European club with a core of young talent, rather than moving on at a low like usual.
I’m in no hurry either, just less confident. I feel like Moyes is best when he’s on his arse and has to come out fighting.
There’s some interesting players at the club right now, but not really a fully functional team. Historically we’ve been awful in the transfer market with the occasional bit of luck. Would love to see us improve hugely in this area more than any other part of the club.
I think the transfer committee kind of negates some of the issues I'd have with Moyes longer term... We seem to have bought players for the future and the first team ready players we targeted, who didn't want to come, were also all 23 and under.
It's a good balance imo as it kind of forces Moyes' hand a little with not just building a functional team with no real chance of progressing past a certain self imposed ceiling.
Yes he's not the most adventurous manager and someone like Glasner would be a great level changer, but I think for the next few seasons I'd be happy with Moyes getting us regularly in the top half with a shot of Europe before we even think about moving on from him.

Yeah - as much as i was negative about him coming in, i agree with this completely.
It hurts a bit that he never got over the line against Chelsea (or past Liverpool in that semi) because along with Moyes himself, its a crime that Baines, Jags, Ossie, Arteta, Pienaar, Cahill and Coleman didn't win anything with us.
At the risk of going a bit Keegan, i would love it, love it if Moyes could lift a cup at Wembley for Everton.
